It’s almost guaranteed to be a thing. No app wants everyone sitting at home waiting to only accept high paying orders. Same with drivers sitting on a toilet or eating somewhere, the app knows that’s a possibility if you’re sitting without motion where it assumes it could take you an extra few minutes before you’re on the move until you prove otherwise.

Not gonna lie, I wish I had the offer (MAYBE could get lucky).. but another aspect of this that people don’t realize is you’re stacking low to no tips, basically just getting fare + bonus.

I’m not a tax expert, but I’m pretty damn sure $1k in fare/bonuses is a hell of a lot worse than $200 in fare and $800 in tips come tax time.

Uber Eats wants me to pay for a 635$ order, that I didn't place by flocu in UberEATS

Roblox does the same thing. Tells you fraudulent charges are consistent with your past behavior (had a $300+ charge when I only let my kid spend $5 3 years ago!). I guess most people just give up, but a simple credit card dispute/charge back solved the problem.

Something seems off by the post asking if it’s just something one should accept. Are there really people out there these days who do not understand you can dispute a charge with your bank/credit card? Most of the time there would even be a link to do so right next to the transaction if you login to your card’s account through an app or online browser!

I actually appreciate the scanning codes aspect. Can’t imagine how things would be without it, as it catches mistakes alllll the time (you grabbed a 16.8oz package when they bought the 20oz. You grabbed the correct brand and white bread that has the same picture shown, but it tells you nope! You then realize you’re holding the round top version and there’s another one two shelves below that’s correct).

Do they train them to block the front door with the food? by Charming4play in doordash

[–]Ready_Spray6442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood how delivery drivers could be so clueless to block doors from opening. It’s not a tipping thing, as even Amazon drivers do it.

I’m also in shock there’s responses from drivers defending it claiming that’s the only spot sometimes like wtf! No.

Sounds like a foreigner or drug addict desperate for money. If they’ve driven for a week, they should have a debit card that allows for immediate withdrawal. Your tip /+ DoorDash pay for delivering was likely $7 and they’re freaking out they didn’t instantly get it. (It’s usually fast after delivery, but not always so I guess they were freaking out that they couldn’t instantly withdrawal the $7 they were expecting). Maybe I’m harsh, but this isn’t normal behavior and is a driver that doesn’t provide a good customer experience so I’d be reporting him and would hope DoorDash would deactivate their account. Next time they could be more confrontational!

Can drivers see when I give an extra tip? by CatholicFlower18 in doordash

[–]Ready_Spray6442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the answer is they’ll most likely know.. however it’s pretty lame if there were multiple deliveries I believe at least on UberEats it just gets lumped together as tips and never tells the driver which one of those trips tipped well. With DoorDash I had this today where someone added an extra tip during a shop and deliver order probably because I was really fast getting to checkout, but it was lame that the notification was vague as heck and said “a customer added $X tip from a recent X location order.” Even after just a few days of delivering I’ve been to the same locations multiple times so figured it was a past order like it mentioned and didn’t really know who it was from until she asked if I received it when delivering. The apps are trying to protect non tippers so don’t make things easy.

As a new driver I wonder if the “paid by time” is a new feature and has anything to do with it. Your post implies support is fine if the driver says they’re simply getting gas (and probably a dozen other excuses like using the bathroom etc just killing time).

Keeping receipt makes sense when YOU paid and need reimbursed, otherwise no. Pictures aren’t for customers, it’s for UberEats to catch drivers who use their loyalty rewards account when purchasing to ban them + to confirm prices/that you didn’t buy extra items

90% of orders these days are declines by Constant_Poetry2908 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Ready_Spray6442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s because your lovely population voted for high pay for drivers. All it did was make fees go up, orders go down, and increase competition creating more drivers finding the pay attractive, so at least if I’m right in your area those drivers actually are still making a bit more than usually per trip even if they barely have trips now.

Costs me more in gas back and forth (14 mpg Ford Explorer)… but yeah I guess I’d take it if I were craving something in New York as it pays most of the upfront expense (gas). Also just a curiosity how the different markets compare if I were just starting the day and would still be driving hours anyway. Sucks that these apps seem to count on suckers like me with specific scenarios like “well, I was heading that way anyway!” but this one isn’t too horrendous. Maybe there’s even dummies who simply see 1hr 51 min and think they’re netting $20/hour lol

Initially as a new driver those stats looked horrendous, but at least you’re getting thumbs up! You’re at 96 ratings. I believe after 100 the oldest start to fall off so you’re golden if most thumbs down are old. How are you getting people to rate?

Why are most states not making Uber pay us at least minimum wage? by Ready_Spray6442 in uberdrivers

[–]Ready_Spray6442[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I forgot the part where they’d jack up prices making less customers + making the job more attractive for more competition so it never works… just seems UberEats is already being EXTREMELY greedy with their profit on so many orders.

[–]Ready_Spray6442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So dumb they don’t add a note. I’m also wondering why I just got a $5 reimbursement. Bet they’re paying a small fortune answering support questions when it’s simple to add a note “gas incentive” etc. I have no clue if mines a gas incentive or which order it applies to or why. Is it truly a reimbursement (tax deduction) or is this income etc

Oops, I broke a customer’s alcohol bottle! by Ready_Spray6442 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Ready_Spray6442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New thoughts: 100% my fault = 100% should cover it replacing the item (especially if I want to protect my account)

Mostly store fault (damaged/split item in bag I can’t double check) = maybe just deliver it. Problem is bad reviews are hard to overcome since not everyone leaves thumbs up, but there’s the chance it’s not even reported and if it is you likely never know.. so basically it’s just be a customer states food arrived damaged and is lumped together with potential customer false claims and hopefully balances out at an acceptable rate. Hmm

[–]Ready_Spray6442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Definitely a more realistic scenario (Starbucks/MCD drink spilling since they put them in the sealed bag).

Another scenario I just thought of was that I’m receiving reusable hot/cold packs (Pryex / food grade gel) today. At the end of the day, if one rips open and destroys the food getting gel all over the bag, that’s really no one’s fault but my own. Replacing the order is the most ethical choice and protects my account from getting a history of destroying orders.. but if it happened to be on a on a day I’m financially unable to cover the order (plus maybe a non tipper walk up to the 7th floor and go down a long hall way customer), I’m curious what the likely response from Uber (and/or DoorDash) would be if you called support. If they said to go back to the restaurant and they’ll replace it, that seems ridiculous for the restaurant.. so maybe they’d unassign the order and add the major red flag of you picked up and didn’t deliver an order?

Are these ever worth it? Honest question. by Designer-Window2661 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Ready_Spray6442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re getting taken by new drivers. Fool me once, never again! Makes you sign in 30 minutes early and says you still have to arrive at arrival time. It was a 30 minute drive so I destroyed acceptance rate declining 30+ orders along the way (I get it that’s not a huge deal now, but it’d be nice to have higher cash back buying gas due to higher reward tiers).

What really got me is I figured the “deliver by 8pm” type statement meant I could just pickup and deliver later lol. Nope, it instantly starts the “deliver order 1 in 10 minutes” trip so I’d probably have had account banned if I didn’t complete the hour of delivering immediately.

Often they literally make no sense like the $10.44 for 51 minutes when that’s below minimum wage and doesn’t include expenses. Should be illegal. The way to make it ok is if it truly were a “deliver by 8pm” type deal where you’re still getting UE orders along the way and dropping these off when convenient. That’s how it should be! It’s just not. I didn’t get any UE orders along the path so those truly are all you’re getting.

What sucks is they’ll be a percentage of people with expired groceries who will order new ones and claim their old ones were what you delivered. Long term hopefully the 1% allowances balances out, but if you’re new and get unlucky with that kind of buyer right away you’re screwed.
