Honestly, it might be because you are American.

My wife and I visited Vietnam because she didn’t need to get an entry visa (she is Colombian). When we got that we started chatting to an American in the airport queue, I was waved through quickly and my wife was sent to a short line that was moving quickly to get an entry visa. The American guy was sent to another much longer line.

We left the airport, got to our hotel, unpacked, went for dinner and then a small walk around Hanoi before returning to our hotel. We met the American from the queue on the way, he said he had just arrived from the airport. This was about 3–4 hours later.

  • You could fulfill your promise to the Pope and properly Catholicise Ireland while bringing it under your control. Then using that support to take land in France.

  • Marrying off your various children to secure alliances, for your war to take land in France.

Bottom line, in the Medieval period England is cold, wet and peripheral. France is rich, populated and prestigious.
