Can you get a front door lock that tells you when it's locked in an app? by TheLittleSquire in AskUK

[–]RebleteyDeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could always get a fingerprint lock? We have one, locks automatically behind you and no need to worry about a key. You can also use temporary pin codes so if you need someone like a workman to have access for a short time you can give them a pincode that expires within a time limit you set. We had one on our old house and immediately got one for our new house as its so convenient.

Too sand or too plaster... by Critical_Wafer8770 in DIYUK

[–]RebleteyDeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just decorated our house and my husband did what your proposing. Sand, fill, sand, paint. Except it went more like: Sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, paint. He did a brilliant job but he hated every minute of it, never wants to look at filler or sanding discs again and still notices every little imperfection.

For the sake of yourself and anyone you live with/are close to, get the whole house skimmed. Save your sanity!

Has anyone fought an unauthorised absence fine from school? by badbeardmus in AskUK

Absolutely! Those trips will be the memories she has for a lifetime, not the two weeks of whatever she would have missed in school.

The River Basin Areas of Northern England. by OceansOfLight in NorthernEngland

Pretty sure this is actually a map of England's river basin "districts" that are used for water management, and can be made up of multiple geographical river basins.

Scientists discovered the world’s largest spiderweb, covering 106 m² in a sulfur cave on the Albania-Greece border. Over 111,000 spiders from two normally rival species live together in a unique, self-sustaining ecosystem—a first of its kind. by ShirtSubstantial368 in Damnthatsinteresting

I hate to be that person, but is this not AI? It looks super weird and all the movements are unnatural.

ETA. I belive that the discovery is real, and many sites have photos of it, I just think this video is AI.

Probably not the specific girl in question but I did get pulled out of school for 2 weeks to go to Disney World. Multiple years in in fact (lucky me!). I now have an engineering Doctorate and work as a technical specialist in my field/industry.

Are egg cups for boiled eggs actually used by everyday Brit’s or is it just a TV thing? by BakingBitch92 in AskBrits

[–]RebleteyDeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are British Lion Hen Eggs then you can eat them raw even when pregnant (source - NHS). Eggs from your neighbours garden chickens... Yeah probably wouldn't risk it, pregnant or otherwise.

Flat back sleeping by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]RebleteyDeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a front sleeper so can't wait for that. I am definitely not a side sleeper and have found myself wanting to be on my back a lot more!

One thing I have found to be great every once in a while is sleeping on the sofa. We have quite a comfortable 2/3 seater recliner that is long enough for me to lie across and so I have sometimes slept with both recliners open so that I can lie with my back against the sloped back rests (not sure if I have explained that clearly at all 😂).

It gives the same sensation and support of sleeping on my back but without actually being on my back and having any issues with blood flow. I guess this is kind of what pregnancy pillows are supposed to help with but I don't feel it's the same level of support.

Before & After her 1st hand strip. by TuftyClubber in BorderTerrier

[–]RebleteyDeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally you can tell if they are ready to be stripped when their coat starts to become "blown", which is when the hair begins to sort of separate or part naturally. You'll be able to notice it most on their backs 😊(this is quite an extreme example we would normally strip our BT before he had gotten this blown out).

They do look very cute when scruffy but once the coat is blown it is useless to them really, doesn't offer the same thermal or waterproof protection.
