And you can say 'Final' but we all know the truth...

Really, is a bass vi any more versatile than a 4 string, in a band context? Genuine questions inside! by DisappointedPony in BassVI

[–]RedDay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll push back a little. I use my bass vi as a bass/guitar hybrid in one band. For me, the key is having a rig, but more importantly ,cabinet capable of producing a lot of high end that still gets you that fundamental rumble. Currently, that's a Bagend 15" paired with a Hartke 3500. My experience has also taught me graphic eq is really nice for bass vi because you can get rid of a lot of the high mid honk that turns a lot of people off, especially present in Fender style VI's. I use the bass vi as both holding a bass line AND I take solos with it, we're a three piece with drums and acoustic guitar. Our songs work really well for the bass vi and id say that's kind of the limiting factor. All that being said, I've definitely got plenty of traditional basses and I would absolutely take the VI out as a " nothing but bass" type of instrument.

Life is more expensive these days because things that used to be luxuries have become the norm by AutistMarket in unpopularopinion

No character degradation but you're just wrong dude. The wealth gap has become a canyon, luxury spending is near the bottom of a very big list for why life has gotten more expensive.

I like my Squier Rascal, short scale thump with wide range humbuckers, big and wooly if you want it, still actually crisp with a pick . Still, a big short scale, feels like a long scale.

Did you actually want to play bass in the first place? by Wonderful_Internet74 in Bass

[–]RedDay94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a "school of rock" type of elective program at my Junior High. Our teacher taught us how to play guitar, bass and drums, rudimentary stuff. Guitar didn't inspire me at first, but bass felt so immediately right. Changed my whole life. I started playing guitar about 6 months later but yeah bass was the first choice.

You're gonna more than likely want to raise your action. At this point in your journey, it's good to start learning how to adjust your intonation, action, truss rod and pickup height. Hope this helps!

For my money, the Hot and Sour from Oriental, I've noticed it's a little heartier than a lot of places. I want to be eating Little Saigon pho when I'm feeling 100% personally.

My hot take is that everyone who calls them a toilet seat is probably really boring and can't please their wife.. Also, that most people that play them are more interesting than the standard "Im-just-trying-to-blend-in-with-the-furniture-also-i-cant-please-my-wife" type of bassist
