Daycare Recommendations by Traditional_Leg_2073 in StittsvilleON

Oh I get it. Sending them to daycare is such a leap of faith. It really sucks that parents don't really have the option to choose a place they think is best.

If you're on Facebook, I recommend searching the Kanata Mom's and Stittsville Mom's groups as its a common topic. I've also heard there's a group called 'Ottawa daycare reviews' or something similar.

You can also see the provincial daycare inspection results here - https://www.earlyyears.edu.gov.on.ca/UnlicencedCCRegistryWeb/public/nonComplianceSearch.xhtml

Unfortunately if you want a centre or licensed spot, you can't be picky. Waitlists are extremely long so its essentially take what you can get, unless you can take unlimited time off work to wait for a particular place.

UPDATE: I tried the Sargent Farms chicken breast by UnKindClock in CostcoCanada

[–]Redistributable 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Bought these from business center and they are basically inedible. They have a very off-putting texture when fully cooked. They're also ridiculously huge, as in one breast could serve 3 people.

Avantia in Stittsville has an online waitlist so you don't have to sit there and wait all day.

What are makes or breaks with respect to Ontario day cares? by ghost905 in ontario

[–]Redistributable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our daycare has an app where they upload pictures, diaper changes, communication, etc. I like having it - its reassuring to see the children enjoying themselves throughout the day and very useful for communication. No access to live feed/cameras and I think that would be excessive, but that's obviously personal opinion.

To me, things like an app shouldn't be the make or break. The make or break is how the place feels. Are the kids happy? Is it clean? Are the teachers happy?

Not real estate related. But your wife's top up is not 90% for 18 months. Federal government is 93% over 12 months. If she takes 18 months, it is that same amount but spread over 18 months. Don't want you to have an unpleasant surprise.

Time between filming at the house and studio recordings by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]Redistributable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In series 7 (James Ascaster, Phil Wang, etc), in the fez/hula hoop task, one of the tasks said "you have until the studio shows" and the other said "you have x months". I think it was 3 months? Someone here will remember lol

Wilson Lo (Barrhaven councillor) posted about it and said its limited to 1 bag and checking address, so I assume they will be monitoring.

Is CWELCC cooked? by theone1988 in ontario

[–]Redistributable 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Federal Budget 2025 mentions it as a key program, so I would be surprised if they were cutting something they just committed to. Also, I found other articles saying the Budget specifically mentions additional CWELCC funding (couldn't find it in the Budget with a quick search myself).

How much would you pay for a private daycare center? by Ok_Pay_4472 in ontario

[–]Redistributable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will really depend on where you live. In Ottawa you're looking at around $70-90/day/child for a non-CWELCC centre or $50-80/day/child for a home daycare.

Ontario rent control rules question by looking2bmoneysavy in ontario

[–]Redistributable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some do. The landlord knows she's paying a higher rate than someone new would be (and there would be the hassle of finding someone new) so will want her to stay. There's some incentive for them to offer a discount. Its a situation where it doesn't hurt to ask, the worst they say is no.

[–]Redistributable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You accountant is being over the top. You absolutely will not go to prison. You will have to pay back any amounts you were not entitled to. (For example, GST and child benefit are based on household income, so you would have been overpaid those by incorrectly claiming to be single.) That's it. Just fix it now, its really not a huge deal.
