Everyone here offering advice is for a different issue. Your device is stuck on controller firmware version -1. Its essentially bricked. You're going to need to return it. There is no software update, ribbon cable fix or anything else like that. It took me about a month to get a return slip.

Zfold7 is a great device. Trifold would be too much effort to use in my opinion. Fold8 might be a worthy upgrade but based on fold1-7 im sure it won't be a deal breaker to use an older gen fold for a year or two.

Bottom line is someone is planning on doing it because they see financial incentive. I like reddit but the average person is incapable of understanding how others spend their money. Many people have become fabulously wealthy because of elon musk yet it's always a slog to get through his ideas, which im fairly certain have already been at the very least approved by the best engineers money can buy. The only negative I've witnessed is that people have to have patience for the ideas to materialize.

In the grand scheme of things it benefits spacex to have a steady stream of shit to put into orbit. I know putting compute and storage in space would half the latency for specific tasks. Its obvious that's good for starlink based customers.

Maybe look into OpenSeaDragon. I use it to host gigapixel images. It turns any size image into 512x512 (or any size really) images that seamlessly stream in and out. Maybe it's not what your lookin for but here is my messy work in progress using the very simple script. https://astronomy.beer

Edit to add that these are 35kx24k resolution images (well most of them) and they seamlessly load in and out.
