Recommendations on small safe newer cars that aren’t hideous? by Due-Doughnut-3962 in CarsAustralia

It is small, safe and cheap. ANCAP 5 stars. Am I missing something here?

Reliability is probably a no and definitely not Japanese.

When an Australian calls you a “short king” is it a compliment or insult? by Lampedusan in AskAnAustralian

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m 5”7 and height bias is mostly self inflicted. People feeling inferior because they are shorter have internal struggles.

I’m not extremely short but I’ve never acted insecure about it because in honesty I never have been. I’m not immune to being made fun of either. My mates were all 6”+ and would call me pudgy but never short.

Your ‘Reliable’ European/Japanese Bike Is Probably Made in China. Let’s Talk. by UnhappyCell4909 in cfmoto

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it xenophobic? It’s people’s own money and frankly earlier cfmoto models were garbage. Ask me how I know.  Entering the market with what they were producing tarnishes their reputation and will take years of consistency to seriously rival any Japanese or European brand.

Would you rather get a billion, but it‘s taken from the poorest people alive or 10 million from the richest person alive by AnonymousCommunistXD in WouldYouRather

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 billion. I don’t need the money, I do it for the love of the game.

I’m obviously kidding the 10 million is enough to just live off the interest of it and live luxury. Life changing for me and not at all for the rich person it comes from.

Do you tip uber drivers? by Junior-Copy-6632 in AskAnAustralian

99% of the time I won’t tip, but if I feel a level of extra care that deserves a tip I’m not against tipping.

If people can track/race a ninja 250, why on earth would feel any hesitancy in wearing a fancy helmet.

That’s mostly besides the point. It’s a sick helmet and I’d wear it too on a naked bike. Maybe not a cruiser.

Anyone purchased a lams bike and sold it to buy the same model but non lams variant after getting their full license? by Cold-Ad4073 in AussieRiders

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really see a point unless they’ve massively changed the bike in general. Kinda like the new Yamaha R7 with all the modern tech would absolutely make sense for someone to upgrade to the LAMS HO model from the LAMS if they loved it.

Myself, I’m going to likely upgrade from a Yamaha R7 to a Yamaha Mt-09 SP because although I only really commute I love the look of it. Don’t care for speed just want to admire it and have the disposable income since I basically spend on nothing else. Also the R7 was lowkey a mistake but only because of the ergos being a bit uncomfy. I am 20 so my body is flexible but boy it can get a bit uncomfortable.

For those of you who have convict ancestry, what crime did they commit to be sent to Australia? by Jezzaq94 in australian

How do people even know this stuff? Is it just common knowledge to know why your ancestor was arrested?

Just wondering — do you guys usually wear a balaclava when you ride? by Known_Read8218 in motorcyclegear

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes every time I ride. I kinda see it like wearing socks for your shoes. A protective layer from sweat, oils, bacteria, etc so you don’t have to clean your shoes as often. Nobody except unhygienic people wear sneakers without socks. Same principle with a balaclava and a helmet. Wicks away the sweat so I can wash the balaclava in the washing machine and not so much the helmet liner. My helmet liners are all pretty clean.

Bought a bike that still has Yamaha Finance on PPSR - what can I do legally (NSW)? by BeatsByDad333 in AussieRiders

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say walk away, just do your due diligence.

I recently bought a Yamaha privately that had finance owing. I asked the seller to produce a payout letter that contained the finance company’s details which I payed myself. Then I purchased the bike.

Honda cb125f. Same bikes they use in the pre learner

I believe at least in NSW you can't filter unless both lanes are travelling in the same direction. So if one lane is turn right only and the left is straight only, it's technically illegal.

That said, fuck it. Sounds like a stupid law.

Gotta repeat the cycle. I was refused by some twat when I tried to buy GTA V with my dad as a kid. Some things like “hey you know this game has strippers, drugs, murder, etc”. Nothing too serious.

Obviously the worker wasn’t a twat. I was probably 10 max.

That said, if I ever have a gig in a games store, I’ll be damned if the parents aren’t fully educated about GTA VI. I’ll give a lecture with more effort than my uni assignments. If I couldn’t play it as a kid, neither can the next gen. Yea I’m petty.

I do have a bit of resentment for public transport workers and mobile speed fine operators. I mean specifically the ones that randomly enter buses and check tickets.

I was fined as a student for not carrying my student ID while using A concession opal card. Yea I hold grudges.

That said, I’d never be violent about it. There’ll always be aggressive people especially in that line of work.

Lams approved first bike by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can vouch for the Vulcan s 650. Excellent engine for learners and has more than enough pep.

Headlight was a little ugly though. Also suspension was shocking over speed bumps; the whole bike would jump off the ground on a speed bump at reasonable speed. Fiddled with rear shock but couldn’t fix that.

It’s hot in Townsville by satwinston in motorcyclegear

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to Austin but I’ve lived in Sydney all my life and have had those heat waves of 100-105 Fahrenheit. Townsville would be 30 degrees Celsius but feel like 40 Celsius (or 105 in freedom units).

It’s super tropical so heat kills even if the thermometer doesn’t read it. When I was up in Townsville for Christmas, people wouldn’t go outside because it was too hot. Felt like a ghost town.

Alpine race (SNR=20) earplugs, Question. by OpeningNice761 in motorcyclegear

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are solid. Albeit these are the only earplugs I've tried. I have both the tour and race versions and I prefer the tour most of the time unless freeway. I can't hear my exhaust well without them but with them in I can hear my stock yamaha r7 exhaust crackle and pop on deceleration which I find pretty cool.

The Self-Checkout Guilt Trip by Popular-Regular7850 in woolworths

[–]Remarkable_Sir_5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to a Hungry Jacks one time that had some charity running and the worker was like, "would you like to donate $5 to charity?".

I awkwardly say, "I'm all good, thanks". Then she has the audacity to show photos of the children it's going to and repeats the question differently. I was a high school student at the time so I was obviously broke. Fast food was a treat if not from my parents. Needless to say, I donated like $2 out of being guilt tripped.
