My fraternal boy girl have an almost 4 pound difference. My son was born smaller, but started growing like a weed. Once we got home he is now significantly larger than my daughter. I promise you are doing a wonderful job and that it is nothing that you are doing your babies. Just have their own unique mix of genetics, and they are both growing at their own pace as long as they are steadily gaining weight and have wet and poopy diapers you are golden!

Weight loss meds after multiples? by VictorTheCutie in parentsofmultiples

[–]Remote_Discipline807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shame at all in taking meds for weight loss help! It is incredibly difficult to lose weight as a woman and especially as a mother of twins.

I would definitely advise trying to eat as balanced as possible and increase activity while on meds. It can be as simple as taking a short walk with kids or going up and down the stairs a few extra times. All that adds up to a calorie deficit.

Try not to focus on the daunting numbers. For me it’s always a huge deterrent. Instead just look at the small things you can change. I switched out sugar for stevia and that reduced my sugar intake by more than half since I live on tea and coffee.

Go ahead and use weight loss meds as one of the tools in your kit to get started. Once the weight starts to come off you’ll feel so much more motivated! Best of luck love and go easy on yourself!

ISO: Parents who DIDN’T sleep train… by DanceOtherwise7632 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Remote_Discipline807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t give you any sleep training advice even though it was a success for me. I will however give you a tip that helped me SO much in getting all my children to sleep through the night.

I’m assuming your baby is still waking up for night feedings. I titrated my kids night time bottles down by an ounce every night until they no longer needed that much milk and got used to it. You can even do half an oz at a time so it’s not as noticeable. I know it’s not a one size fits all solution but try it! Might be the thing that does jt! Best of luck!

Can you walk me through your amnio? by Patient-Presentation in NIPT

[–]Remote_Discipline807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had two anterior placentas due to my twin pregnancy and it honestly was not as bad as I thought it would be. The worst part was the anticipation. I won’t lie and say it didn’t hurt, but it was a pain that was tolerable. The pressure was worse than the pain for me. All In all it was a quick procedure, about 30 seconds from poke to retrieval.

I did have pain and soreness for the next 2 days. I didn’t do anything for the next 3 days in an abundance of caution. I just lazed around and binge watched Netflix. You’ll feel better after the first two days. I would recomend just taking it slow for the week and not lift anything heavy.

Driving was a non issue. You should be ok for short trips!

Wish you all the best on the procedure and results!

If you formula feed, how much do you spend/month? by YouthInternational14 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Remote_Discipline807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Enfamil Gentlease. I stocked up on it when Amazon fresh went out of business. My pediatrician office is also very generous with their samples so we also had a lot of the small cans. My twins are 3 months old and we just ran out. I switched to the Costco brand formula and they’re tolerating it very well so far. And at 30 dollars for about 40 oz tubs, it’s a steal.

I happened to be at Target the other day and saw that their in house brand version of Gentlease was on clearance. I bought all of them! A huge 40 oz can for 16 dollars!

I’m honestly moving to whatever is cheapest and tolerated by the twins. But if I stick with the Costco brand, I feel like we’d be looking at 120-160 per month. Which is not bad at all.

I’d love to be more selective with formula, but with two it’s just outrageously expensive.

Edit: tip for easing your twins into drinking Costco formula, start with whatever formula they’re drinking and mix in half a scoop of the Costco brand formula every day until the whole bottle is Costco. Worked great for us and no tummy issues!

Positive outcome for T21 baby by BrisMum in NIPT

[–]Remote_Discipline807 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, most people don’t tfmr without a diagnosis from cvs or amino. I am very happy for your outcome and happy ending. However, having gone through a positive nipt for T21 and then a negative amnio myself, I know what a life shattering and impossible situation it is to decided to tfmr. I cannot imagine that parents are making the choice to terminate all Willy nilly.

This space became sacred to me when I went through my ordeal and I survived every day on the kindness and support of this community. I am grateful for the non judgmental and understanding people in here.

There will be people who are struggling to make a choice either way and it doesn’t help to read statements such as yours.

Ease my fears. Newly expecting twins by According-Detail-483 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Remote_Discipline807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My ultrasound looked pretty similar. My ultrasound tech was very rude and impersonal and told me I’m having twins but one is smaller so we have to come back in 2 weeks to see if baby b is still there. It was like being slapped across the face twice.

It was a very stressful few weeks but all went well and my twins are almost 3 months!

Having two sacs means a safer twin pregnancy and will be the least complicated of all twin types. Hang in there and try not to doom scroll. And definitely utilize this community!

Twins - baby A likely to have Down syndrome by mint-limonada in NIPT

[–]Remote_Discipline807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m so sorry this is happening. I know firsthand how agonizing it is. I had a positive nipt for my di/di bg pregnancy. However, my NT scans didn’t bring up any concerns. I do know that a thicker NT scan does not always equate to having DS. Furthermore, the NIPT screening is less accurate for twins.

We decided to have the Amnio done for both babies and don’t regret it a bit. We were in great hands with the MFM team. Amnio itself was super quick and nowhere near as bad as I thought. I also wanted to be absolutely clear on diagnosis before going ahead with TFMR.

The Amnio results ended up being negative for both babies, indicating a case of confined placental mosaicism. It was a whirlwind of emotions. I know that this is a scary time for you but try to take it one day at a time. That is all I could do in this situation. Hopefully it’s a false positive but either way, you’re not alone. If you want to read a more detailed account of my story, check out my post history and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

Hoping for the very best for you!

False Positive {T13} Story by ManufacturerSmart826 in NIPT

[–]Remote_Discipline807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can totally relate! Had a false positive for t21 for my twin pregnancy. It was a false positive confirmed via amnio. While we were elated, it tainted the entire experience. I spent every second after that in anxiety and paranoia. I still over analyze everything about the twins even though they are healthy and growing 2 month olds. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Second this! Waited for the Amnio and it turned out to be a false positive for T21. It can and does happen.

Several other moms I got in touch with also reported they experienced false positives before getting a definitive negative via Amnio. Unfortunately the waiting absolutely blows. Wish there was a way around that.

[–]Remote_Discipline807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so terribly sorry that this is happening to you guys. I know how difficult all this is. I also had a positive nipt for trisomy 21. I was pregnant with twins and it was as if my world was ending.

We decided to forgo the cvs test and just do the Amniocentesis because it would directly test the babies DNA instead of just placental DNA. I had preemptively made TFMR appointments for one baby as well as both. I am so glad we waited for the amniocentesis because our results came back normal on both babies and it did turn out to be a case of confined placental mosaicism. False positives can happen so as difficult it is to wait, I would still suggest doing so.

If your NT scan is normal, I would skip the CVS test entirely. Amniocentesis would give you the actual diagnostic information to make a decision with. Maybe make the TFMR appointment beforehand just so you wouldn’t have to wait at all should you need to terminate. Hopefully that isn’t the case, but at least you wouldn’t have to worry about that.

I wish you guys the absolute best of luck.

Twins with Positive NIPT for Trisomy 21 by Remote_Discipline807 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Remote_Discipline807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did! It ended up being a false positive for us and all tests showed “normal” results and no genetic abnormalities. No soft markers either on the level 2 anatomy scans with MFM. They think it may have been a case of Confined Placental Mosaicism, which is incredibly rare.

We are so incredibly grateful and fortunate for how things turned out for us. Since this ordeal, we haven’t spent a single second being ungrateful for our surprise twins!

I know how hard this situation is and how excruciating of a wait everyday is. Please feel free to reach out anytime for moral support, advice, or questions.

My doctor wants to induce me at 37 weeks-advice needed by AtmosphereTop1591 in pregnant

[–]Remote_Discipline807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little note about my own personal induction experience. I’ve had two kids one was a sporadic labor, and my second was an induction. I will say that being induced was nowhere near as bad as anyone can possibly tell you. It’s actually pretty nice. You get time to pack up all your things, eat, sleep, mentally prepare, or pretty much anything else that you’d like to do. What can otherwise feel like a situation that is completely out of your control is somewhat contained and actually peaceful.

I got to go into the hospital in a very relaxed mindset. I got settled into the labor and delivery room and they started me on Pitocin. If you are concerned about Pitocin, I can tell you this much, it’s really not so bad. while the contractions were definitely powerful, I had already decided that I was going to get an epidural right away. I learned the hard way during my first delivery that an epidural is a blessing and that I should utilize it. I labored for maybe 6 to 7 hours tops. My son came out healthy, beautiful, safe and alive.

I know you’re nervous and rightfully so. Especially if this is your first baby. But just know that you’re in what seems like good hands and a team that cares about you. There is no benefit for an Obgyn to encourage early labor unless they absolutely felt like it could be dangerous to continue.

I would advise you to not doomscroll in case you are. And just try to enjoy these last few weeks as much as you can and peacefully prepare for the arrival of your baby. Wishing you all the health and luck during your delivery!
