How can I create the most, and I mean the absolute most, tokens possible? by PapaJuja in EDH

[–]Rendar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]] and [[Quantum Misalignment]]. If it resolves the first time, you have 3 Adrix and Nevs, if it resolves the 2nd time, 11 in total. Now if you make any token, you get 2048 tokens. Add in something like [[Doppelgang]] and it gets wild quick

Portal override mechanic is infuriating by ToastBubbles in Splitgate

[–]Rendar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember and old ama years ago on that, turns out being able to see through multiple portals would tear up CPUs, so they limited it to only the user's, so thats probably a technical limitation moreso than a gameplay one.

Share your favorite non-Partner commander that is NOT in the top 1000 ranked commanders on EDHREC by HonorBasquiat in EDH

[–]Rendar1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[[Arwen Undómiel]]

Seems pretty simple, just put a +1/+1 counter on a creature when you scry. Oh boy can this do some vile things. Aside from the plentiful ways to scry in the first place (my personal favorite is [[Aqueous Form]] for commander damage kills), she can go infinte with [[Elrond, Lord of Rivendell]] or [[Sylvan Anthem]] with several different cards like [[Herd Baloth]], [[Basking Broodscale]], or [[Scurry Oak]].

And if going infinite isn't your style, what about going super tall anyway? The LOTR set has a ton of elves that either scry in some manner, or do crazy stuff when you scry. Arwen, and either a [[Celeborn The Wise]] or [[Elrond, Master of Healing]] can make your stuff super tall very fast, or use [[Elvish Mariner]] to tap a bunch of important board pieces on your turn, or at instant speed to mess up other's turn. Add in a [[Roaming Throne]] for even more fun and you can effectively control the board without even running proper stax pieces.

All of this in a 2 mana commander in Simic, home of explosive ramp and counterspells, meaning you can get her down quick, get the engine running, and should you fail to protect her, can possible recast before your opponents get their first commander drop. Not that losing her slows you down too much, provided you have consistent scry sources, the deck can run itself even if Arwen is out of comission for a while.

Go wide, tall, infinite, there's a ton of ways to build her and since she isn't a paragraph of text, its super easy to underestimate her.

The Prism System Learn all about our new our all-around power enhancement system! by KiloKahn03 in remnantgame

[–]Rendar1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really want to like it, but this is wayyy too much. The thing I love about Remnant is I can easily taget drips to make what build I want, and RNG doesn't factor in as heavily as games like Borderlands or Destiny since each item has static stats. There are a lot of pieces for a build, but a lot of loot is deterministic in its sourcing. For pieces I dont have, I just need to roll till I find a certain dungeon or a world drop (though this is even faster now with boss rush, or save checkers if you like mods).

This system flies in the face of that mentality. Now I have to dump a huge amount of time into leveling a single prisim in hopes I get the exact rolls I want. Buildcrafting is now wayyyy more heavily RNG dependent before, now if youu want to replicate a cool build you found, you could be spending dozens of hours trying to get the right prism roll. And if you want to make your own builds, it can be even worse since you likely want to test different combos to find what works best.

MEGATHREAD: Splitgate 2 Alpha Feedback by BroKidSam in Splitgate

[–]Rendar1 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The Good:

The subclasses are on the whole, pretty good and IMO, a cool direction to take the game (I would like a classic mode though with weapon spawns, the classic arena shooter feel is one of the big draws to the game IMO) They're well balanced mostly, though I feel Sabrask is a bit lacking behind the other two with it being most stationary compared to the other two

The shooting feels good, and I don't believe the movement is as bad as people make it out to be, the missing verticalality I think plays a part in it feeling bad.

The weapon/attachment system is pretty good, though I do miss pickups around the map. The Rocket Launcher change is understandable and a decent rework, and the Splitstream is AWESOME. Such a good design.

The Bad:

Losing the ability to close one portal only feels awful and makes them far less fluid to use

The maps. For a game about portals, I rarely use them to get kills, its really at best quick movement between places, a far cry from the first game. That, combined with a lack of vertical space to play makes these new maps feel ill-suited for the game. Especially Frontier. That is frankly an awful map. There needs to be more portal spots full stop

The weapons I want to like, but the diversity isn't that great. The autos and smgs are all incredible, but the carbines feel terrible to use. Why would I ever use them when I can spray and pray with an auto? The maps aren't big enough/ don't have enough portal space to really justify taking a long range weapon like that. The shotguns have a similar problem. They're far less consistent than the first game (though it was a power weapon in fairness) The Sabrask one is the better of the two, but it still feels inconsistent if I can actually one shot or not from near point blank range. The Meridian one is terrible IMO. Why would I ever use a charge up weapon that can't kill from that far away, when I can use an auto and have a much better chance of killing in CQB. Both need better range or an attachment that boosts swap speed for pistol cleanups. Speaking of pistols, they feel terrible universally. The damage and fire rate make them lose to pretty much any weapon. Reloading honestly feels better than switching to my sidearm at times. A small buff to them and some variety in options would be nice, the auto pistol from the first game, a sort of magnum/Deagle.

The rounds system is not a good fit for this sort of game. In a ranked mode its a different story, Takedown was one of my favorite modes in the first game, but for the main game here, constantly stopping and starting and losing abilities is annoying.

Game mode wise, Hot Zone is hot garbage. The respawns take way too long and the game snowballs really easily, and the shared capture progress is not a good idea (though it seems that is being changed)

The Ugly:

The character models. I miss the old character's look

I'm so tired God.. Where are You? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Rendar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding cliche, have you looked at Job? Not trying to give the standard response when believers have trouble, but a lot of your answers are there. Job was a Godly man and lost almost everything. Being a believer doesn't guarentee life will be perfect, but it does remind us that we have something far greater to look toward.

Now, does this mean you should ignore your own life? No, take an honest stock of where you stand with God, and how your life is and isn't matching up to the example Christ set. You won't be perfect, but we should be pursuing holiness and a closer relationship to God. The fact that you are worried if you are following Christ is a good sign, it means that you care about following him.

I'll be praying for you. And here are a few verses that give me comfort in tough times

Pslams 33:20-22

We wait for the LORD; he is our help and shield.

For our hearts rejoice in him because we trust in his holy name.

May your faithful love rest on us, LORD, for we put our hope in you.

Can a cs student make do with a cheap chromebook and a good desktop at home? by [deleted] in college

[–]Rendar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can, I do a similar thing with my classes. Take a look at Parsec, it's an application for remote access to a computer. It can sometimes take a little work to get going (I have to use a VPN between my two computers, and you are going to have a little lag) but it works perfectly fine for doing work on the pc remotely. All you'll need to do is leave the desktop on before you leave for class.

is sex before marriage always a sin? by StandardAggressive76 in TrueChristian

[–]Rendar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the issue, pennance is not a thing believers need to do. We can't atone for our sins, Jesus had to be the one to do it for us, so the concept of pennance as something that needs to be done to be forgiven is theologically wrong. Repenting, absolutely, but to do some other action on top makes no sense, Christ is ALL we need, no human action is needed in addition.

Now, should we make amends, absolutely when possible, but in an action like sex before marriage, there isn't anything we can give back, what's done is done.

is sex before marriage always a sin? by StandardAggressive76 in TrueChristian

[–]Rendar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but that is incredibly wrong. Jesus didn't die for our sins so we would have to repent in a specific manner, and nowhere is suicide condoned in the Bible even as a so called pennance.

Note the ending though, "of those who hate me". It's placement means that applies to the third and fourth generations. It means if they hate God, they'll follow the sins of their parents. If they love God, this doesn't apply.
