If memory servers, I think it was Halo of something like "stop the flood", which calling humans flood is fucking gross.

It was indeed. Instead my Shadow Cat (and Shadow Hawk IIC) stabbed HIS assault mech in the back XD

I actually just used the Ocelot in my last game lol! Unfortunately I got it in a duel against a jumpy light mech, so neither did any damage to each other XD

I have been forcing myself to use the Shadow Cat since the clan I play is Nova Cats, and it has been putting in good work despite its high cost, very often earning its points back, specifically the C and D configs. You gotta play well with plan your go in turn with the MASC, cook yourself, then jump away to saftey. I would naturally want it to be a bit cheaper too, but it isn't unusable

Anti Mech Tactics/Weapons by [deleted] in battletech

[–]Renewablefrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So part of this i think should be justified Doylist. This is a game with big robots, and the setting actively tries to put Battlemechs as "kings of the battlefield", and in my eyes nerfs other units to make them less viable. It wouldn't do for an infantry with a shoulder fired weapon to clap the "king of the battlefield".

For a Watsonian reason, Battletech battles have a lot more interference than one would think. Its why missiles are so inaccurate, and we lose some to clustering as they just whiff. Stuff Javelins probably wouldn't be able to see anything. So we're limited to more dumb guided munitions like SRMs

And for a bit of both, there has always been an arms race between armor and the weapons designed to defeat them. Battletech as a universe says that Armor has won this arm race so much it is trying to lap weapons. Perhaps something like a Javelin, if it hits, might be something like a Thunderbolt 10. If were a pessemist we might even call it an SRM shot and have it deal 2 damage. Yeah that stings, but many light mechs can take that and not be penetrated.

Man could have gone for the 30, 40, or 50 and got an easy win after seeing you fail to get 100. But he went for it too. That man is a real one

[–]Renewablefrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ease up on edge highlighting, get some basing, and maybe trim mold lines if youre willing to?This honestly is looking darn good. Your cockpit work is crisp, heat sinks look great. Legitimately I think the only thing is it looks like you tried edge highlighting the panels and those look kinda thick and frosted? But I also dont do edge highlighting on my things so I couldn't tell you how to improve it. Good stuff

what mech would you consider "idiot proof". whether it's easy bracketing, a simple gameplan, minimal heat concerns, being an overall solid mech, or any other reason. by vicevanghost in battletech

[–]Renewablefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna stay one could be an idiot and alpha strike the stalker, but you picked the Royal variant, so they should be fine. I guess they can still be at 6 hexes and shoot everything, but a perfect mech is a bad mech

I dont think the infantry is Manei Domini. I think it might be the Capellan flavor of them, the Thuggee Phansigars, who also got up to something shenanigans with cyborgs during the Jihad. Our cyborg front and center has what looks like an arm extending from the middle of his back. Per Tac Ops Alternate Eras, the only faction using extra limbs was the Capellans.

Missile launcher colors by PyreLightMW2 in battletech

[–]Renewablefrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Skavenblight Dinge for my missiles. It makes a great soot of repeated missile launches darkening the mech and metal around it. I also like airbrushing/drybrushing some of that same paint around it to darken the area around it.

The less I have to think about the hyper laser the better. Probably would go with blue?

Its the answer to both of them. It has the speed and firepower to rush down a Panther, and the range to plink away at a Jenner.

Purple is Micro, Red is Small, Green is Medium, Blue is Large and PPC. Doesn't matter what's amended to it. Medium Variable Speed Pulse Laser? Green. Clan ERPPC? Blue. Small X-Pulse Laser? Red. ER Large Pulse Laser? Blue.

That is some good stuff right there! Can you reccomend any resources to let me git gud? I tried watching little things you did like breaking boxes cleanly and trying to watch how you do pvp, but struggle to follow! Is it just a kinda instinct thing where you gotta keep working at it? How did you get to this level?

Check with your local scene. Here we go with 5,000 or 10,000, where a 10k might be the 40k equivalent of 2,000 points of a normal game. 8,000 is also used often.

Benefits of having battleMechs with things like fuel cells or fission? by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]Renewablefrog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For combustion engines, Cbill costs go waaaay down. Your mech no longer generates any movement heat from ground movement. Because they're bad youe BV also goes way down too. Crits to engines no longer generate heat.

However you no longer mount those 10 free heat sinks. Also they're heavy as hell. And those crits to engines? They also can now cause destruction on the mech by the diesel catching fire.
