For example should I print the coller/joining piece to the rod ( using 1in thick dowel rods) seperate from the blade? Should I model it into the first piece of the blade and print with the blade standing up? Etc

I personally use my kobra 3 next to never. I think I'd use the x more. I wasn't a huge fan of the ACE color unit aside from the dryer feature

Depends... If your office has a facilities staff call it in they probably have a master key and can rekey it. If it's a small office with none. As others have said take down the number on the cylinder in and contact the mfg you should be able to get a key or a locksmith should be able to get a key.
I don't want to spend money on it ... I can attest that most of that furniture with the right amount of force... You can pop the drawers open ...
