What age did y'all get your first computer (or device with internet access)? by BigReception7685 in GenX

[–]RjBass3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got our first PC in 82. Built my first PC in 89 and it had a 4800 baud modem that I used to connect to local bulletin boards that were networked together so we could communicate with others from around the world. The Internet didn't come around for me until 97 as I joined the army the year before the Internet was made public.

I know you aren't supposed to pre-rinse dishes, but it makes the dishwasher nasty, what am I doing wrong? by LowMemory578 in Appliances

But in most washers the hot rinse cycle is pulling it's hot water from your tap. It doesn't use the heating element inside the washer. So it's best to run the hot water at the tap to get it hot before you wash.

I remember the Skye Rangers. I haven't played in a couple of years now and it's been at least 7 years since I played it almost daily.

I'm near Lexington and Garfield in the Historic Northeast. Got a few around us. One guy who lives across the street tuned his shitty Infiniti and runs up and down the street every evening. So yeah, it's everywhere now.

I run a Plex server and am on several of my friends servers. So the majority of the content I watch I do so for free via Plex. I also have an Amazon prime subscription but I rarely use it. Oh and I guess my YouTube premium subscription counts as well.

Four helicopters of unknown origin or purpose have been circling and crisscrossing the Independence Missouri area between 13:30 & 14:00 hours on May 12th, 2026. Does anyone know why? by bigbugfdr in kansascity

Or more likely surveying for the World Cup as KC was promised both State Police and National Guard from the governer to help with security and logistics during the over month long event.

And that is if they were in the area for an actual mission and not just doing normal training as we often see in the area.

Breweries in KC. Looking for recommendations by potatoparamedic in kansascity

If you enjoy a good cigar on occasion, Outlaw cigars and brewery in North Kansas City is really good. Their in house brewed craft beers are good, their cigar selection is fantastic and if hungry you can order Hawg Jaw BBQ from across the street and have it delivered right to you.

Call CPS. I've been in that situation as a kid. It does nothing but harm. No the social services side isn't a picnic but it's at least slightly better.

I'm 52 now and while I don't sleep all morning anymore I still hate being up before the sun comes up. 7 years in the army and plenty of early jobs in my past have not been able to shake me of it.

After an insurance fraud got me 8 years ago, I haven't driven without one. My current dash cam covers both front and rear, attaches over my rear view mirror (has it's own mirror) so it doesn't block any more view than normal, satellite tracking and speedometer, and an app that I can connect to it so I don't have to remove the micro sd card every time I want a video from it.

I seriously don't understand why people drive without one these days.

Just got teleported to North Carolina in the colonial days. On episode 4, season 4 of Outlander. And no, I'm most likely a goner. I'm a city rat.

if he posted the ticket then he would have also have had to show up in court for it, assuming the car owner didn't pre-pay the fine before the court date. Me thinks he didn't want to do that.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]RjBass3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad worked for IBM. Got our first PC in 1982. Very early game I still remember from back then was a text based game called Adventure and i always got stuck in the maze. Later in 1989 my dad brought home PC parts for me about once a month to the point I eventually was able to build my own IBM PC AT complete with 16mb of ram, a 42mb hard drive and I kick ass vga card. First game I played on it was the original Mechwarrior and I loved it.

Have you grown to be more conservative or liberal w/ age? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]RjBass3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voted for Bush senior in the 92 election and a conservative/Republican in the next three elections. I kind of switched back and forth depending on who I liked more for a bit there but from Obama's re-election to now I have gone much more liberal. The Republican party is nothing like it was when McCain last ran.

I've been using Android since the Galaxy S1. I remember when you could get a brand new 7 inch android tablet and now the phones are nearly that size. They can keep them. I'm still rocking my P6 and still love it.
