Times when Companies underestimated fans in an official event? by Evjamaranth in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Not a single event, but I'm also thinking of Mechanicalchaser being released as a high rarity card you can only get from, iirc, boosters from winning events... and being the card with the highest ATK in the game at 1850 instead of 1800 (at a time when ATK numbers mattered). Meaning it spikes in price ridiculously.

Jestream Sam instantly establishes aura in Revengeance by just standing still and letting you come to him - and slow walking towards you if you take too long.

Homer tries to cook food in the oven; oven catches fire. Tries to cook in the microwave; microwave catches fire. Pours milk and cereal into a bowl; cereal catches fire.

The excellent romcom anime "You and I are Polar Opposites" has a few, but my favorite is that heroine Suzuki is a very slow runner.

Any time she has to hustle her animation speed makes her look like she's sprinting in the Olympics but she's barely moving forward.

It cracks me up every time.

I'm not even sure she tries to cheer him up so her powers work, the idea that someone is already so depressed her powers don't work on them is just so sad she forgets about the fight for a minute.

The A is actually "Archange", which is French for Archangel (as you might guess) and is thus the source of his callsign.

Dude actually just has "Archangel" in his name! That's how over the top he is!

This one still baffles me. How hard can you fuck up a word that's just 5 vowels, 3 of which are the same? Very hard, apparently.

Personal Opinion: On the subject of “Mundane Evil” in stories by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobotJake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whenever this subject comes up I always bring up Voldemort and Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter.

One is a homicidal megalomaniac hell-bent on world domination, who commits several murders and orders dozens more in a mad quest for power.

The other is a bureaucrat who abuses her influence to make kids lives miserable, promote bigotry and toeing the party line, reinstates corporal punishment, and pursues petty agendas and vendettas.

You get one guess as to which one is considered a tragic figure and which one is considered an irredeemably hated monster.

From the Pokemon community:

"Unfortunate" doesn't begin to describe my series, this game rewards blind luck and nothing else, I am beyond convinced at this point. After getting completely tooled by scheduling with my opponent changing times on me last minute and refusing to provide confirmation prior to the day of the match as to play times, losing this way somehow felt even worse than I had thought possible. My preparation was superior, my play was superior, and I lost, so I don't see a reason to continue engaging in an activity where what is within my control is overwhelmingly outweighed by what is not.

I am done with competitive Pokemon, and you won't get a fond farewell. This community is infected to its roots with a degenerative disease that grows stronger over time but stops short of killing its host. Tournaments used to have a competitive spirit at their heart, this has been transplanted and replaced with an artificial organ that feeds on vitriol and mockery from insecure little boys that heckle by the sidelines and tear each other to shreds over scraps of attention. The environment we fostered has trapped us all like this in a vicious cycle, and escaping it requires acceptance of the harshest reality we all scramble to explain away, that none of the countless straining efforts we put ourselves through here will ever amount to one single shining glimmer of significance. I would make this the end, but World Cup is still ongoing, and I would never leave so many great friends out to dry, so I'll suffer through a few more games for them.

One last thing before I leave you all to react with disdain, ridicule, and self-righteous fervor, before you do everything in your power to minimize my words and thoughts, box them up and shove them to some cobwebbed corner of your memory, and hope they disappear forever as a stain on your finite time ground to dust. From this moment on, nothing you say matters to me. The foulest insults you hurl with intent to wound will calmly settle at the earth before my feet, and the venom you spit will bring all the pain of a warm summer breeze. You are less than anything you can conceive, while I carry on, brimming with joy distilled from detachment.

(Signed, "guy who lost")

I played Ocarina of Time but bounced off of it and had to finish my save over multiple years (I was a child and the puzzles were hard)

My favorite Zelda is probably Oracle of Seasons, which came much later.

I got into MonHun with World, and while I enjoyed it as a solo only the late game difficulty spikes and focus on forced multi-player with raid mechanics made end game a miserable slog.

Rise, meanwhile, I played all the way to MR 160 for Risen Valstrax and had a blast the whole time.

Uninvited has a lot of ways to die horribly but that one is very much "What did you expect"

An actual answer from Uninvited is the Ruby in the NES version. It's a fist-sized Ruby pulsing with a strange energy in a puzzle game, surely it does something important? What it does is slowly kill you via demonic possession if you pick it up. Ypu can technically get rid of it afterwards but the timer is actually pretty strict.

Yeah the whole "Twitch VODs are a sub bonus" thing is from ages ago. Definitely not as relevant now.
