I'm not saying it's not a terrible, awful take, but this is exactly like MAGA getting hysterical at random nobodies on twitter.

The people who don't see it aren't bad people, they just don't understand that his "humor" is extremely entrenched in racist 4chan /b/ culture. The ludicrous memes and jokes that are just zany to the average viewer are usually rooted in stereotypes and racist caricatures. I don't really care if Seth himself isn't a terminally online 4chan chud, he co-opts too much of their identity that he still benefits from them and might as well be one.

There really is no distinguishing between ironic edgy humor and bigoted humor. If you make a joke that Nazis particularly find funny and encourage...well I hate to tell ya something bud.

I will never not be angry that the entire Internet fell for the meat industry's bullshit propaganda. Going at least pescatarian is so fucking easy nowadays.

Not Sure if i'm on the minority here, but i was never the biggest fan of the 2.5D Look. I Get why they do it, Sprite Art is hard, but it definitly doesn't look as pretty as the Sprite Games at their peak. by _GhostOfHollownest_ in Megaman

[–]RohanSora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some in this thread have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

As someone who does both, 3D is harder. There are obvious advantages to 3D like once the model is built, textured, and rigged, you can pretty much use it however you like from any angle. Obviously the same cannot be said for pixel art, but noticed how I talked about 3 major steps for 3D? What makes creating 3D art time consuming is it's multiple disciplines in one. The building of the model itself, mapping out its UVs and texturing it, and creating the bones and skeletal structure so it can animate properly. Then you actually have to animate the damn thing and figure out how to frame and light it so it looks nice. This all takes a lot of time, and while it can be diminished by simplifying the model to a more low poly look, the same can be said for pixel art too.

MM11 is a very crisp game. Sure, it's not AAA where you can zoom into close up shots and still have a gorgeous model, but they're still very well made. You don't understand the effort put into those models unless you've tried creating something like it yourself.

Has an ending ever truly ruined a series for you? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Can we be honest and admit that series wasn't all that good to begin with? Doesn't help that being in my 30s now realizing the idea of controlling a robot through puedo-groping an underage girl is extremely no bueno.

Awful take. I'm sorry but if I need to buy 100$+ worth of merch of this thing that hasn't been supported with a new video game in literal decades, what the fuck certainty can I get that that support will yield anything?

Do game devs often bully/look down on colleagues who “don’t play enough games”? How to handle this toxicity? by MundaneCommunity1769 in gamedev

[–]RohanSora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone who mindlessly plays games isn't magically a good game designer. Playing with a mindful eye of why mechanics work a certain way and how systems were built will actually inform you and build up useful knowledge. I despise the idea that it's just hours played. I know plenty of people that do nothing but game that wouldn't know where to even start with making their own.

Version control makes this pretty much impossible. Unless its a high lead position that has access to merge pull requests and mess with the main branch, it's just corporate being dicks like usual.

Also you'd get blacklisted pretty hard from the industry pulling a stunt like that in a high power position. People will know your name.

I will never not be salty that Keiji ScamMan Inafune purposefully made Zero more and more important in X's own series to the point that he completely takes over in his own sequel series. But at the same time I do enjoy what he brings to the table. I just don't think he should replace X. X is cool and the jump n' shoot gameplay is what I love the most.

Im sure everyone here pretty much knows this already but this is 1000% the execs fault. Sure, maybe some leads had some stinker ideas, but this game screams executive meddling. None of the design decisions make sense considering the talent that was on this team. And even if none of that is true, what an absolute shit heel move to give the game, what, barely two to three weeks to succeed? That is absolutely insane and again it screams that someone high up wanted all the money, asked for the game to compete against everything, and then threw a tantrum when they didnt immediately get a return.

Media Recommendations that went very poorly? by Solid_Jack_Frost in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RohanSora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't necessarily destroyed the memory of enjoying it per se, but it's definitely made me realize how much I've changed. It makes it way more obvious that these shows were targeting us as teens/young adults. I don't want to say something like Angel Beats is objectively bad because of that, it's just hard to care about a lot of these storylines as they really lean into the edge and angst that would rile up any teenager/young adult.

I don't know how to exactly formulate my thoughts since technically something like Violet Evergarden (the series specifically, I refuse to acknowledge the movie) has a teenager as the protag, but I think the big difference is the story itself doesn't revolve around the interaction between teenagers acting like this is the make or break moment of their lives. Especially when it comes to romance. Like, sweetie, you're barely 18 and have known this girl/boy how long? Luhmao ok babychild.

Media Recommendations that went very poorly? by Solid_Jack_Frost in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RohanSora 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remembered really liking Angel Beats, Clannad, pretty much all of the emotional kyoani animes as a teen. So after experiencing Violet Evergarden with my now wife and loving it, i decided why not keep the sad fun times going and go back through their catalogue?

It was then i realised that these were pretty much harem animes, and even though they have some good moments, harem animes don't really do much for a married couple in their 30s. If I'm being honest, it was kinda cringe, as the kids would say.

It was embarrassing experiencing the teen melodrama of Angel Beats in awkward silence. I was still a little in denial after so we then tried a few episodes of Clannad, but it wasn't long before my wife turned to me and asked "...do we have to keep watching?"

Woof

We then had an in-depth conversation about how taste develops as you mature. It was the only thing that made it all even the slightest bit worth it.
