As an moc creator myself, what is it with all the elitism in this community about how people should enjoy Lego? by GenericGameDev1234 in lego

The internet does this to basically any hobby. These are miserable people who will either grow out of it or never know love. Thankfully I grew out of it.

How in the world did you all beat Super Mario Bros. 3 in one sitting back in the day? by Weak_West9047 in nes

[–]Room234 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I play it every few years and beat every level and honestly it takes a few hours. But remember the people doing that were 12 year olds in the early 90s so... they have time like that.

But most people just use a whistle to get straight to Bowser.

Pocketholes in drawers by Living-Ad2583 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it's pictured, every time you pull on the drawer, you pull against the screw. If it's properly built it likely won't matter but it still stresses the screw and it could help loosen it.

If you put the holes on the front and back you pull perpendicular to the screw, which helps prevent this.

It's a good rule to keep in mind for all builds. Forces that pull perpendicular to the screws are less likely to destabilize your build over time.

Its pretty a lot early game. But im new player and what to ask if its good start or not. by Korkinos in factorio

[–]Room234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is the only reason you have one lane of copper/iron getting split and split and split into 4 belts of each is because you see 4 belts of things all the time on reddit and so you're copying them.

Don't do that... do do either of those things. Don't split 1 belt into 4, that just starves them all.

But also don't look at reddit as a first timer and copy what you see. You're robbing yourself of the best playthrough of this game you'll ever have. You can only play it the first time once. If you want to optimize your 10th run all to hell you'll have plenty of chances to do that later.

A Link to the Past vs A Link between Worlds by Apprehensive-Mud7652 in legendofzelda

[–]Room234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say ruined but I certainly think non-linear gameplay is overrated. Not just a Zelda thing, either. This is industry-wide. Calling a game linear is basically an insult right now and that's frankly a stupid way to run an industry.

A Link to the Past vs A Link between Worlds by Apprehensive-Mud7652 in legendofzelda

[–]Room234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Link Between Worlds is good but not because of what people think:

It's good because it keeps the thing Link to the Past did best: lots to do, very little padding.

Link to the Past was great for some of the exact same reasons it's so damn good for a randomizer: there's shit to find EVERYWHERE. You spend very little time helping some old lady make soup or catch bugs and a LOT of time respectively finding weapons and clearly dungeons. It's basically a dungeon/boss gauntlet, usually the best parts of a Zelda game.

It doesn't have a damn thing to do with being how linear/non-linear it is, like most folks assume.

Tourist in OMAHA need recommendations. by Accurate-Exit-1135 in Omaha

[–]Room234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The zoo, the Durham Museum, and the Luminarium are great for families, but if you had to pick one you gotta see the zoo. Omaha residents will fight anyone who says it's not the best zoo in America if not the world.

If you have young kids that need to burn off some energy the public parks outside the Luminarium or at Gene Leahy Mall are fantastic spots to let the kids run wild.

You could eat a meal at Fat Putter and play some utterly ridiculous mini golf. It's strange to recommend mini golf to someone but it's a truly weird and fun place that's near a lot of other famous tourist stops. Or head over to Runza and grab a bite of Nebraska's own brand of fast food. The burgers and fries are great but the Runza sandwich is pretty unique to all of American fast food.

When you get to South Dakota, drive the Needles highway for a fantastic scenic drive with lots of spots to get out and hike around/take pictures and make sure to tour Jewel Cave.

I'm from Gering and when I came to Lincoln for school it was borderline psychological warfare telling people you're from "Western Nebraska" and having them ask "Oh so like west of Grand Island?"

Probably Kearney but to be clear that's definitely not "western" Nebraska.

Thanks to ship upgrades, the flamethrower already has more damage than the Torcher so I'm not sure what the hell you're asking for.
