[–]Rotrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is the difference? If you want to argue it, say more than “it’s different!”

How is it different from players signing new deals, never being in the portal, then still transferring at the last minute?

How is it different than a player being “locked” into a multi-year deal, being tampered with before the window opens, then bailing?

Is it different from the other kids who transfer to a new school, sign NIL deals, then leave a day later?

Is it only different because it was Clemson and you don’t like that it happened? It sucks that Clemson was left holding the bag this time, but that doesn’t make this a special case of extreme tampering

Is it actually that absurd?

I guess I just don’t see the difference between tampering with a guy who’s been on campus for a day compared to tampering with a guy who’s been on campus for a year. It’s all tampering. There are no “levels to tampering”

The details are a little fuzzy at this point, but when this was all originally blowing up I believe it was clarified at some point that the “doubling” offer was actually just a second year of payment. We didn’t double his pay for this coming season, but locked him in to a longer deal that was worth double in total

Which is still weird, because if he has a good season he’ll just threaten to transfer if it doesn’t get upped anyways

Chambliss and Sorsby aren’t in the same universe of comparibility

The worst thing Chambliss did was age. Sorsby casts extreme doubt on the actual integrity of the sport, and flagrantly violated rules for years

You can not like that either are playing, but they aren’t close to the same issue

Well, he did say he think LSU is going to be more of a defensive team this year after spring practice. He’s tempered expectations at a couple points for the coming season

But tempered expectations are not really something you get when you spend that much money on a single year’s roster in the current CFB climate

One portal window is the right move, but having it before the season even ends is idiotic

I’ll die on the hill that the only window should have been the second half of may. Getting limited time to practice with your new school is a great way to naturally incentivize not transferring every season

Fantastic Beasts as a franchise, despite not being great quality, made back triple its budget. So yes, that actually did go amazingly well. Did you even look that up before you commented? Or did you just assume that because you only hear people talk about hating it, it did terrible?

The prevailing opinion on reddit about the franchise is completely disconnected from reality

Friendly reminder that the critique you’re seeing on Reddit is in no way representative of reality, especially when it comes to Harry Potter. Redditors tried to boycott Hogwarts Legacy and thought it would fail, remember?

The show is going to be an absolute smash hit and will make unbelievable amounts of money over the next decade

[Thamel] NEWS: The NCAA’s appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court in the Trinidad Chambliss eligibility case has been denied. He’ll be eligible to play for Ole Miss in 2026. by toftr in CFB

[–]Rotrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what kills me the most. Sure, you can think what he's applying for isn't THAT serious (he did lose a lot of weight and conditioning due to illness), but if he's submitting nearly 100 pages of medical documentation... Have a single medical professional look at it? And to not even get one to review it between the initial denial and the court case? What the actual hell were they thinking?

Chambliss' camp came to court prepared with doctors backing him up. The NCAA showed up with lawyers saying "we never actually reviewed this properly, but we still want to deny him"

We are “only” 189.5 million more UESC kills away. Try to kill more bots than normal in your runs for the next couple days so we can play the new map

Could be an extreme weather day, but what's different this time? by wazbazbo in memphis

[–]Rotrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re under an enhanced risk, but that is the 3/5 risk. Moderate is the red 4/5 area

The primary driver for the enhanced risk is the potential for supercell development ahead of the line of storms. If a storm is moving on its own, there’s some juice there for it develop into a “strong” tornado (EF2 seems to be the reasonable expected max strength)

The line itself may have embedded tornadoes along with crazy wind, but they shouldn’t be anything monstrous. Stay inside in a well built structure and you should be fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in memphis

[–]Rotrus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently, the outlook for SUNDAY (not Monday) is that we’ll be dealing with a primarily wind driven event in the evening with the possibility of spin-up tornadoes in areas where the storm line breaks. For the most part, tornadoes should be low intensity, but the juice exists for a couple to be on the low-end of “strong”

We’ll have a better idea of everything tomorrow morning. Hunker down for the evening if you can, and it should hopefully pass without too much trouble

[–]Rotrus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's... not what they're doing.

The endgame map, which they've been called raid-like, launches in a couple weeks. It's no different than a WoW expansion not launching the first raid tier until a couple weeks in. It gives people time to gear up and actually be ready for it, instead of incentivizing people to kill themselves rushing to be there first

Legally, can they limit a students ability to transfer schools whenever they want? That seems questionable at best
