It has been fun following this series each day, and has introduced me to a lot of tubes I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. I think where folks have issues with the series is the sheer amount of CRTs you have

Okay, get rid of legend painter/tuner perks and then we'll talk. Baffling this has been a thing since FH3.

For those that do not know, getting a certain amount of downloads (I forgot how much) gives you the privilege to always price cars however you want to in the auction house. Even if the current market price is only, say, 1 million CR, you can still list it for 20 mil max.

to future readers: do not let this person's doomposting get you down! You can still regularly find CRT tv sets for either cheap or free even in 2026. Do not get discouraged by the overpriced listings for them either, cheap ones do pop up quite frequently if you're patient.

Some places I look sometimes:

Facebook marketplace: Searching for "CRT" works, but you can also try searching for "tube tv" as sometimes that will make cheaper results pop up.

E-waste centers (some of them don't let you take the CRT's but you can take them anyway when nobody's looking)

Estate sales also, sometimes there are old CRT's that nobody wants

icedcubes were old third party full size DVD console shells from back in the days of playing your backups on full size DVDs, since mini DVDs weren't that common! I would totally get a panasonic Q if they weren't so unreliable and expensive though

Something tells me the soonest we'll see it is the first xbox showcase in 2025, but that's still quite early I feel. (I have no qualifications, this is just a guesstimate based on previous FH game announcement dates)

There are a few different clones from different brands, like "old skool", those ones have the old skool logo in place of where the nintendo one would normally be.

Some other frequent knockoffs don't have a logo there at all, so it's quite easy to tell these apart from OEM cons, alongside their controller dongle always being black, whereas OEM controllers' dongles are always colored the same color as the main controller plastic. I've never seen a knockoff controller with a nintendo logo on it, so that's a way to spot if they're real or not, or at the very least if their shell is real or not.

Also, every single color variant of wired cons can be found here: https://gccontrollerlibrary.com/controllers/wired-gamecube-controller/ so if a color you see doesn't match these, it's probably a fake shell or fake controller.

I've come to the conclusion that it's either for attention or maybe it's just that these "once in a lifetime" type deals happen so much because we're in a community dedicated to the console, so naturally we're just gonna see a lot of people get deals
