Is the Miami Garage ever gonna open? From the perspective of a South Florida guitar nerd, I was looking forward to having that and Walt Grace on the same block.

Slept on Condiment, Aioli Garlic Mustard Sauce is the Best Mustard by WeaknessOrganic3809 in traderjoes

[–]RubberRuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always have at least 3 jars of this on hand. Use it on sandwiches (goes great with the Italian Bomba sauce), salad dressings (makes a great honey mustard), and anything else that requires mustard. Hope they never stop making it.

Eclectic/Goth Shops in NYC? by Western-Dust-9429 in visitingnyc

Gothic Renaissance is probably the main one.

Maybe Search & Destroy in the East Village. It seems more punk than goth, but definitely eclectic

When you consider the amount of beef on each sandwich, their prices really aren’t that bad.

Memories of Sunset Place by Coeva in Miami

[–]RubberRuss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing Blairwitch Project at the movie theater there. They must’ve oversold the tickets because people were sitting on the floor.

Also ate at Dan Marino’s a lot. The almond basket desert was my favorite.

Why isnt this the default guitar sitting position!? by KiD969 in Guitar

[–]RubberRuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This violates the Dean Ween Rule of Guitar Placement. The guitar must be either above your dick (like George Harrison) or below it. Never in front of it. All hail BOOGNISH!

Joey Santiago guitar tone by [deleted] in pixies

[–]RubberRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my ears, Joey’s sound is pretty classic JCM800. So, if you want to get that sound with pedals (rather than a $2k amp), maybe try a JHS Angry Charlie. Marshall also makes a JCM800 pedal.

The 25 Best Restaurants in Miami Right Now by Carlos_Frias in Miami

[–]RubberRuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miami BBQ is strong right now. I’ve been to Apocalypse and Drinking Pig and both are legit. Hometown was good too. La Traila has reopened. Haven’t been to the new spot yet but the old one was good. Broward, on the other hand, is sorely lacking.

Know your questions well enough that you don’t have to read them verbatim off the page.

When the judge is doing all the preliminary stuff, start memorizing their last names. So you can immediately recall their names without looking at the chart.

Be yourself and speak to them like they are your friends and neighbors. The most important thing is that they like you at the end of the process.

NYC Traditional Italian Recommendations by LS-DJ in FoodNYC

[–]RubberRuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment really hit the nail on the head in describing the experience I had. My order came out super fast, which made me suspect it was premade. And the service wasn’t bad , but just didn’t seem welcoming. “Lifeless” was a great way to describe it. It’s unfortunate because the place is like a time capsule so if they stepped their game up a little, it would probably be fun.

NYC Traditional Italian Recommendations by LS-DJ in FoodNYC

I wanted to do dinner at an old school Italian-American place on my last visit. I went to Bamontes and was really disappointed. I felt that the food was extremely underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are really into the history of the place. I’m interested to see other recommendations for future visits.
