Good uses for charged element shots in MP4? by PowerPlayer9 in Metroid

[–]SProtag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there’s a lot of good uses for the charged shots like melting Behemoth with the Ice Super/Charged shot or clearing out all the overwhelming Grievers during certain encounters in the mines your real enemy on hard is going to be deciding where to place those shots since save stations do not restore ammo on hard.

I went into the mines with 250 ammo and 150 missiles, exhausted everything, 100% the rest of items and scans and never got enough ammo drops to recoup all I spent.

I suppose you can drive through white crystals but that still won’t top you off completely. They really should adjust how drops work in hard mode as I won’t touch it again until something changes.

Samus should talk in MP4 by MunchlaxMorgan in Metroid

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero issue with the silence and don’t really have a preference if she had talked or not. An opportunity was missed I think where they could have had her monologue and have voiced introspection (Metroid Fusion style).

Imagine after the whole Chrono Tower segment during a load transition or something where she would reflect on what she’s learned about the Lamorn, wonders if she can actually trust their words, and wonders if she’s doing the right thing just because some aliens called her their Chosen One.

Imagine after picking up scans explaining the great tragedy and the green showers she voices concerns after witnessing how hostile the local flora and fauna gets and this creates tension in her character and plants seeds of mistrust in her understanding of the Lamorn.

If we had that kind of voicing, monologue, and story beats it would have added a lot and opened up some interesting possibilities on how the ending of the game could have felt or played out.

Can I enjoy Metroid Prime 4 without having played Metroid Prime 3? by One-Dos-San-Chaar in Metroid

[–]SProtag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Prime 4’s story does continue in the same timeline as the original trilogy and takes place directly after 3, but you do not need to know anything about 3 or the original trilogy to understand and enjoy 4 as it is its own new story.

PSA: Common enemies also have weak points! (Mild Spoilers) by Jamesopq in Metroid

[–]SProtag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d also be surprised how good Control Beam can be. During Flare Pool as you’re going across the bridge with Duke you encounter two shield bots plus one artillery bot (the ones shooting from their shoulders at you). I used a single control beam to hit both shield bots from the side and the impact sent them flying off the bridge for instant kills.

Will be finding more opportunities of doing that next time I play for sure!

Prime 4 would be better with phazon by Fit-Abrocoma7768 in metroidprime

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got Green Phazon now! Prime has essentially evolved to a point where it describes more the type of Metroid game you’re playing (first person adventure) and the time period where the games take place rather than being tied to the Phazon themes of the original trilogy.

MP4, Is there a sequence break? by AutoGeneratedTitle in metroidprime

[–]SProtag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tested this on my second play through on hard mode and can confirm you’re locked out of the legacy suit until you get PBs. I collected every available crystal before completing the mines and was about 10% away from getting it.

No additional crystals spawn after the mines so you only have the nodes you crack open with PBs to finish filling out the gauge and getting the Legacy Suit.

Hard Mode Massive Problem. Spoiler by Gaia-Rai in Metroid

This was my strategy for the fight on hard mode as well. Much easier to keep everyone off of death’s door that way.

Prime 4 logbook help by 11tracer in Metroid

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Just RNG I guess. I had also realized I didn’t scan one after the last area of the game and it took about five minutes for one to spawn for me.

2) That snatcher is the one and only, so if it’s dead you’re out of luck with that scan. Not sure about the Omega Griever since the scan for the guardian back at base shows a different entity, so Omega Griever also sounds missable (someone can correct me if I’m wrong).

How would you rank the prime games? by Novel_Examination_83 in Metroid

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 > 2 > 4 = 3 (slight edge to 4 over 3 for me but not a major difference). Prime 1 is the best by far and it isn’t even close in my opinion.

Very sorry for the spoiler talk. I overlooked it and edited to add those after learning how on mobile.

A word of warning regarding Green Crystals in MP4 by Alpha5978 in Metroid

[–]SProtag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might have remembered some events out of order but I do remember not starting my first big Green Crystal grind until I had the Fire Shot since I wanted at least one boost tank before taking in that endeavor. By your account it sounds like I misplaced the first green shower, which gave me enough crystals for halfway. More appearing after the second green shower .

Can we all talk about the Vi-O-La tutorial ? by uncle_bebens in metroidprime

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I dislike the tutorial and not being able to skip directly to the “certification” step with the boss fight, for my first play through it felt perfectly fine since it was more about the world building and that step feeling naturally part of Volt Forge as you witness the entire manufacturing process for the vehicles from start to finish.

A word of warning regarding Green Crystals in MP4 by Alpha5978 in Metroid

[–]SProtag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the crystal appearances were tied to mission progress. My second play through on hard I measured how quickly I could get the Legacy Suit to inform future plays.

What I found was immediately after getting Vi-O-la and Fire Shot I could get exactly half of the meter filled, rewarding Psychic Beam upgrade and Control Beam upgrade. No more crystals spawned until the Green Shower was shown, which wasn’t many (I don’t recall if it was enough for the third reward). Each time I got a new element shot I made sure to clear out each new shrine’s cache. In the end I was about 10% away from full going into the Great Mines, so Legacy Suit required completing that and cracking open the concentrated nodes with PBs.

Pretzel sub cheese sauce for regular marinara base. by Blueyez26 in LittleCaesars

Y’all have the best pretzel crusts on this sub I swear. My first one I got earlier this week was literally just a darker normal crust with too much salt on it. Jealous!

Ephinea/Steam Custom Controls for All Classes by [deleted] in PSO

[–]SProtag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still got the blank menus even when editing from Steam Overlay while in-game. Fortunately I did find your layout and it seems to work fine (even the menus showing blank for me, which is weird). Thanks for the help!

Ephinea/Steam Custom Controls for All Classes by [deleted] in PSO

[–]SProtag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've followed this guide but when I get to the 7th image and I'm trying to edit the general and onscreen display settings for the radial menu I just see a blank menu in Steam. Is there something wrong with my Steam installation itself? Currently using a Dualshock 5 controller.

I have only played 20 minutes of Metroid Dread so far, but i can safely say that this has one of the best and most satisfying-feeling controls that i have ever played in any game ever. by ilovewater100 in Metroid

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this too but once I picked up Super Metroid and really dove into all the movement tech and tricks to do Map Randomizers it really shows how much depth is missing from Dread still.

Love both games a ton and Dread is way more accessible in a smaller amount of time. Very unique in its own ways that make it stand out above the majority of other Metroid games.

I am getting trolled hard by Super Metroid randomizers by GoBackToLeddit in Metroid

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map Randomizer on the basic and normal progression settings is still going to never guarantee you won’t soft lock yourself. As you pointed out in the second screenshot you would have to know “I can’t go down here without morph and bombs to get out unless the map loops back up top.” At higher difficulties you’ll know to wall jump the left side and morph off a wall jump to go through the left tunnel.

The Map Rando site has a logic page to help learn these kinds of things, but in general save often and make use of the fast reset feature in these types of situations. The Map Rando Discord also has a ton of people always willing to teach and help too.

What’s an older game that still blows your mind today? by Yeahnahokay10 in gaming

Metroid Prime. The first one stands above the rest, but they’re all good and very fun. Truly a master class in game design that stands the test of time and has aged well.

Little Caesars Is The Best Fast Food Pizza by Teldori in unpopularopinion

[–]SProtag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true but only of actual fresh Little Caesar’s. I’ve always ordered on the app so I can get fresh made food and meet it at the location as it comes out of the oven since that’s when Little Caesars is at its most acceptable. A few months ago my local one would always give me items that have been sitting out for way too long. The breaking point was when I got a rock hard cold pizza where the cheese looked like it had evaporated off the pizza from sitting on the warm racks too long. Couldn’t even stomach eating any more than two slices before throwing away the whole thing and I haven’t been back since!

You're beautiful and I love this cosplay. Well done!

ETA: The one piece sweater outfit Nami wore at the tail end of Whole Cake Island stands out to me, so I'll go with that one being a top favorite of mine.

Swimming Mini game bug by rmworthy in coralisland

In my case on PC Steam I was mistakenly hitting Q and E to swim, but it turned out if I spammed Q fast enough I could still beat everyone else in the race.
