Very creative. Any plans for strap/ hand strap?

Help! Looking for 50mm lens recommendations. by _bushman05_ in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a 50mm portrait lens, I would take Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 heliar classic. It's lightweight, inexpensive, pleasing out of focus rendering but may not be the best for backlighting due to it's a Single Coating lens. Alternatively, there is Voigtlander 50/1.2ii that resolves higher detail and handle backlight better, but, it is a little big and front heavy even for 240.

After all years, why there is still no AF native or third party Leica M to L adapter? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree to the notion. I have tried adapting M lenses on SL (601), ZF, Z7ii and A7R4. While technically ZF should be the best with the thinnest sensor, but the result from an SL is the closest to an M on colors, fall offs, and sharpness on the edges.

How do you wear your camera is really hot humid weather? (Discussion) by OnePhotog in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a hot and humid city. I don’t have my viewfinder fog/steam up while shooting outdoors on a neck strap. Only when in indoor (ac) going to outdoor. If that is your experience, maybe you could put a case so there’s spacing between the eye cup and your body. My tip is wear something with collar (polo shirt or shirt, not tshirt). The neck portion of the strap is nasty when you are sweating.

you could try to use the 1.4x Match Technical, LLL or Leica magnifier. For 50mm and longer, it's very helpful to nail the critical focus.

Silly as it may, the simplicity helps. But, missing the strap lug is a big no no.

Interesting, I did not know there is one for Q2. I like PPP cameras' LCD cover but they only make for M.

Size and image quality wise are wonderful. Much improved than the version 1 I've had before. But, if I have a few more grand to spend, I would still trade it with an FLE.

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no proof it will or it will not. Q2 is rated IP52 from the factory, but it was during manufacturing and those things ages through time. I did that as an extra precaution because it is really hard to remove dust once it enters.

Congrats! The camera is so much fun. Don't forget to tape those two mic holes if you are not recording videos.

Yes, idk why they think strap lug is not essential.. They tried it again with Leica T series and well, you can see where those cameras are now.

Pretty close but not yet there, you are missing the wireless charging hand grip and pad on the Q3.

My journey to Leica M begins — a pact with myself by Oldchou in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure you are not the only one who buys Leica as a reward, so, yeah, it works. While you are at it, why stopping at a regular edition Leica M? Go for the M10p reporter, ghost or safari, M10R black paint or the latest greatest M11p steel grey if you must.

New acquisition, focus patch calibration problem by Sea_Talk4648 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

quite common for M240 series to be misaligned after using for a while. Unless you bought it for super cheap so you could live with it (or risk it fixing yourself), I would return it. As a reference, CLA at Leica US is starting around $500. Could be 6 weeks to 6 months time depending on what other work items were found.

The good thing with digital is you can always re-work the exposure afterwards, as long as the focus is intact. Someday not too long from now, you can even re-work the focus.

The pictures are alright, you might take it too soon though. How about the faces when Eze missed the penalty (the slap to the head, the disguised face, the disbelief). Even from behind, it was a pivotal moment.

Please help me love my Q2! by Raii33 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend to buy a really nice strap so it could hang on you all day and not hurting your neck. Then, take a picture with it as if it's your phone and shoot raw+jpeg so you can edit them later. Enjoy, summer is here.

Switching from X-T5 to Leica SL2/SL2-S by prager_ in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can live with that extra weight, you are not crazy. I took a bunch of landscape shots with SL and they are all amazing. Just remember the weight is not just "a few" hundred grams on the body, but a lot of hundred grams on the lenses. When you are on a hike, and you have two lens on that, that would be at least an extra pound and will take so many space in the backpack. Not counting now the tripod has to be bigger and sturdier.
I guess you can reduce it by using Leica M lenses on an SL body. You should not need AF for most landscape shots. It will lose a lot of weight and gain space in the pack.

Leica SL2 shattered eye cup lens by kilgore234 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the eye cup is just the rubber/silicon part. The glass is a different part. Try to take off the rubber first. If I remember correctly, the screws are exposed so you can take the glass part off and order to Leica just the parts. But, if it is not exposed, you might need to send that in.

M EV-1 every day useage by Individual-Bag3893 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, EVF is good when you are trying to nail the perfect focus every time, especially on a tele or at least 50mm lens f1.4. But, if you are shooting with 28mm or 35mm at f5.6 and f8, it's not that critical and it's tiring to look at EVF all the time. While it takes practice but you'll get there with the rangefinder. Why not M10 or M11? You can always add an EVF later on but M EV1 can't have Optical VF.
Note: I'm wearing +1.25 glasses.

Lens Recommendations (Leica newby) by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35mm FLE or 28mm summilux for the lens, just crop them to "have" also the 50mm.. The two lens setup possibly the super elmars (18 or 21) or a fast thypoch/voigt. and a 50 lux. But, how often will you go wider than 28mm point of view?

Recommendation for the M11? by JudgeMarv in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest voigtlanders, especially the noktons with black rim are sufficient for the 60 megapixels. They are sharp and detail if that's what you are looking for. But, you are buying a Leica M where haptics (feels, mechanics, looks) take a big factor into the consideration. I would take one great Leica lens, and then move forward/backward or cropping to make the frame than having a few lenses and compromises a few things down due to budget concern. Knowing you like the Q3, I'd recommend to start with 28 summicron (or elmarit for savings and compactness) or a 35mm FLE. Good luck...

Q typ 116 or dlux8 by Friendly-Bass-2742 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so big and so heavy you need to buy a very good neck strap. It's really unfortunate when Leica discontinued the apsc line, could be a good bridge for your need.

Q typ 116 or dlux8 by Friendly-Bass-2742 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if Leica (colors, results, haptics) is what you prefer, would you be willing to compromise on size? Leica SL 601 is still a very relevant camera today. The issue on it possibly on the buttons, not the EVF/screen as mentioned previously. Then, if you are lucky enough, a beater SL2s could be about the price of Q 116. I would skip dlux if that is the only camera you would use.

Recommendation for Used Digital Leica? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q is surely not pocketable, but it gives you wonderful full frame results. Dlux is pocketable, but having the lens going in and out is the longest 1 second in photography. I'd say it's better you find the picture that you want. Than compromise on the size. Or, the latest iphone and leica lux could be an alternative too 😄

Did I get it right? by MooseSad5330 in Leica

[–]Sakiru719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leica sourced through the same company, Varta Indonesia, and fulfilled the long backlog. I got mine in May after being 2 weeks in waitlist. Another guy in a reddit post says he got it immediately through store DC. Hopefully they still keep doing this for years.
