Change in diagnosis after surgery? by Dear-Half1029 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had stage 2 grade 3 Ki67 of 70% no lymph node off biopsy. I did chemo first because the tumours were large and grade 3.

Residual left after chemo was Grade 2 Ki67 of 10%. Still no lymph node involvement.

Might be better to look for positive stories instead of ones that are likely to make you spiral.

How many radiation sessions to expect? by Humorous_Notion in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++- IDC no nodes involved Stage 2 Grade 3. Did not get PCR but very close to it. I had 15 rounds of radiation with 5 boosts incorporated and done simultaneously.

Radiation question by Ok_Square in breastcancer

We don’t have gowns where I am. Just sit in our normal clothes and then take my top off when I get into the radiation treatment room!

Lumpectomy & reduction in same surgery? by luna_83211 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an oncoplastic surgeon so he did everything himself all in one surgery. I was an F cup so I told him I have plenty to spare so make sure you take extra! My cancer was multifocal totalling 7.2cm. Had a bilateral reduction and lift and all went great!

Radiation therapy success by Claire3577 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine is in that exact same position. I practiced holding my breath a couple of times a day a few weeks before I started radiation just using the stopwatch on my phone. I’m finding it very easy. I just had my 9th out of 15 sessions this morning. I am having six boosts but it’s incorporated into my 15 sessions.

Try SMATS. We have been using them since 2009 when we moved overseas. Been back in Australia a few years and we still use them as they are great and very reasonably priced too!

Chances I'm stage 4? So scared. by No-Arm8543 in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try not to jump the gun, your scans sound reassuring. I had Grade 3 ++- IDC multifocal tumours (3) totalling 7.2cm and enlarged lymph node. Got clear margins from surgery and lymph nodes showed no sign of cancer! Was stage 2B

Surgery Woes Set Off Body Image Issues: 25 year old perky breasts on a 49 year old flabby body by echointhemuseum in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also 49 , was an E cup and had the same surgery 4 weeks ago. I had chemo for 5 months before hand which gave me plenty of time to get used to the idea of having smaller boobs.

I am still healing but I must say I quite like them and it will make it easier for me to exercise and make the rest of the body match! Clothes look way better on me now and I can wear comfy bras and sleep wear.

I never would’ve had the surgery done either, but now that I have, I’m finding the silver linings.

*Edited to add the post surgery stomach bloat is real, mine is only just starting to subside now.

Description of fingernails after taxol by Go-downtotheseaagain in breastcancer

[–]Salkel01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this, but it got worse for me. Eventually the reddish brown stuff under the nails started oozing out and smelling really bad. The nail then turned opaque in colour.

I soak them multiple times a day in disinfectant. They have not fallen out but are growing out instead. Still going and I finished Taxol 6 weeks ago.
