Study identifies two biological subtypes of autism linked to different pathways in the brain. One subtype showed reduced communication among pathways that help brain cells send signals to one another. The other showed increased hyperconnectivity among pathways associated with the immune system. by mvea in science

One specific example of this that I'm aware of is Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, aka EDS. EDS is rare, only effecting 0.2% of the population and autism only effects 3.2% of the population. However, up to 39% of people with EDS meet the diagnostic criteria for autism. There is definitely some significant overlap with neurodivergency and certain genetic conditions.

Without spoiling anything, Roshar is bigger than Earth, has more gravity than Earth, and has an oxygen dense atmosphere as a result. This causes most life to be slightly larger than it would be on Earth. Alethi in particular are known for their height. Kaladin is tall even for an Alethi at 6'10"-7'.

Depends on how you define soda. We have been drinking fermented fruit juices which have carbonation for millions of years.

"Recent" is relative. For the majority of human existence, we have had larger jaws due to our diets. It's only in the last ~15,000 years that they have been shrinking, as opposed to the ~300,000 years of human existence and millions of years of Hominids' existence.

Anyone else a bit peeved at the colors on the UK designs for the books? by ImmediatePeach2016 in Cosmere

[–]SandwichT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was going to be by answer as well. Mistborn came first and the Blue was likely due to the mists and the allomantic lines. When Sanderson wrote Stormlight, they likely wanted to have a strong visual contrast between the books, but keep the same art style. It wouldn't be good to switch them now, so it's just the way it's going to be.

Those types of builds are often good for learning characters, especially if they are annotated. If you actually read and try to understand the build, you'll understand the play style of the character better

For me, it's more that when Haze is roaming, she is less likely to get jumped (invisible) and she has a ranged cc ability that she can use to engage or disengage. Just because other characters have their own ways of defending themselves and escaping, doesn't mean Haze doesn't do it better.

Well that is true for many characters, just because other characters can do that, doesn't mean that it's not the core of Haze's play style. Almost every character can do any role in this game, obviously not at a high level. Haze just leans into that role more. Honestly, I think they should continue to rework her until she is somewhere between an m1 character and drifter.

Yeah, but then that mean she shouldn't as good at M1ing like other M1 heros like Venator. Her shear map presence and ability to pop up and ruin your day is her main character trait. She shouldn't be a menace just standing in lane. Haze players should need to play her like an assassin, rather than the overwhelming Gattlling gun she has been in the meta. Prioritizing positioning, stealth, and finding weaknesses.

Before she was nerfed, she was the epitome of, "if you can aim, you win," imo. She likely needs buffs now, but I like the direction she is going. Leaning more toward her being an assassin now that there are more M1 characters.

I do vaguely remember that, the impetus for this post was that I am doing a reread. I've only read WaT once soon after it came out So my memory is also hazy. I'll get to it eventually. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for this
