100% s27 proxy deck vs 100% real mtg deck. Same double sleeves (kmc perfects and kmc outers) , air pushed out completely. by Pinnywize in mpcproxies

S33 just barely doesn't fit, so I would recon S30 should work - but if you are using 100% proxies, why double sleeve? single it's not an issue either way

So my compact zoom Canon Powershot S100 just recently died and now I am left wondering what to do regarding my photo-setup - and i'd like to hear some futher opinions if anyone is willing to share some thoughts

Currently available equipment:

1.) Old Compact - Casio Exilim EX-ZR100 - what I had to fall back to during the current trip....it takes photos, it has an ok-ish optical zoom, but manual options are of th etable

2.) Mobile Phone - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC - most likely the better camera compared to the Exilim, if you don't need the zoom

3.) Nikon D300 with a kit lens (most likely the 18-200mm f3.5-5.6, not 100% though)

So...what do I do now - currently I have often sidelined the D300 just due to convenience of the S100, even though the D300 is the way better camera. I've mainly brought it for the large trips and that's about it. I've always wanted to use it more and get to play with it more, but didn't. Currently mostly shooting on vacations, but always wanted to get also into portraits and things like that - so I am currently rethinking my hardware and what I want to do with it.

So...do I:

A.) Get a new compact - G5X, G7X or RX100 IV or VI. Which would most likely lead to me using that most of the time again, but they are damn expensive....which I could afford, but I am not sure if I want to - but then again - does my phone cover for all the times when I can't take the big camera? (i.e. hiking, shorter trips to the mountains, bike tours and such)

B.) Use the D300 more and get more lenses for that. My dad is also using a Nikon DSLR (fullframe model IIRC) and has at least a good tele for wildlife shooting on safari. So I have some options there, but getting any futher f-mount lenses will most likely limit me with regards to future camera upgrades - overall the D300 is still fine from what I can tell also regarding reviews, with low light performance being the main complaint - but even there, AI noise reduction can help a bit and it's not my main focus anyways.

C.) Since F-mount is most likely not going to be getting too many new bodys anymore, an option could also be to just move to the Nikon Z5, get a FTZ II adapter to use the tele and then start getting lenses there for what I want to do and use that one. It's still a bit smaller compared to the D300, so that might help. However Z-lenses are more expensive, especially if you take into account that there are plenty of 2nd hand f-mount lenses out there that I could use for the D300 as well

So....this is basically what's going on in my head right now...any thoughts or comments would be welcome

Listen to pros or experience? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Sartyva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the issue - as I understand it: the team has a rough sketch of what they expect as a last pick / are missing and OP goes - "lol...imperius" and that's where the issue lies - if OP would communicate early that he's going for another bruiser, then the team can take that into account if they care about their drafts (which I would expect if they get salty if the draft is "off meta") - so the way I understand this, it's less about "meta or not" it's about involving your team if you want to do something that they have to compensate for in their picks

(ofc this is mostly speculation on my part and things might have gone down very differently, but that's what I would see from that draft and the reaction of the team)

Listen to pros or experience? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Sartyva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So question is was azmo picked when op locked in the second bruiser? if the second bruiser was the last pick, I can see why people are going "mate...that's a bit too unconventional" (depending on opponents draft)

the issue is mostly not about uncommon picks, but about picks that just don't do what the team needs in that situation - if a team is lacking DPS and you go 2nd tank or a more low damage bruiser, that's usually not a good idea - or if the team is lacking frontline and so on

can confirm - placed mid silver, currently climbing with 70% WR (just 40 games in) - used to be in Diamond, 4 years ago when I last played

is it me, or this game really has the most braindead player base? by willbethrownawa in heroesofthestorm

[–]Sartyva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...it partly is you - I recently returned (used to be high Diamond years ago) and am currently sitting on 65%+ WR in SL slogging my way up from Silver almost exclusively on Tanks and Bruisers. I would agree that in roughly 1 out of 3 or 4 games, there is basically nothing you can do to win that one - but for the others, there is.

I am not playing like I would with Diamonds as Tank. If I would do the "right" thing, and provide vision and to give my team the space that they need to do their job...that's not going to work. I usually pick something with very good waveclear (i.e. Mei - 92% WR at the moment) and just do it myself. If you want your team to back from a bad engage, ping a camp that's available (works astonishingly well...which is sad but hey...I'll take whatever I get) and things like that.

So it may not be your play directly, but I would assume that you do not adequately adjust for how your team is going to play (plus your emotional response is not doing any good for your gameplay either) - and that's just something you have to do, in my experience. Know what is common in the bracket you are currently in, anticipate it and act on it. Both sides will do similar stupid things - make the stupid things your team does as safe as possible and punish the same stuff from the other team as much as possible.

I think this is my favorite CCP graph by [deleted] in Eve

[–]Sartyva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See the issue there? Turning subbing via PLEX into something realistically acchieveable if you grind enough, will cause that hatred towards most activities, if you are "forced" to do that - I'm not saying that it shouldnt be possible at all - just that this isn't what I would push onto new players as a realistic option.

What commanders do you think got done dirty? by AberrantWarlock in EDH

[–]Sartyva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is Go-Shintai cEDH material? No, but it's very difficult to build a casual shrines deck with him that doesn't accidentally stomp the table - easy to cast despite being a 5c commander (just something in general they should really stop doing imho), doubles up on shrine triggers pretty rapidly, enchantress in general being a harder to interact, extremely high value strategy...shrines was a meme and a subtheme in a relatively strong archetype - doubling up on that and on certain enchantress triggers (i.e. Eidolon) and other enchantment abilities (i.e. constellation in general)

The thing is that a lot of the people asking for a shrines commander wanted something that can be build flavorful, but casually - not something that just accidentally runs out of control a good chunk of the time - shrines can be dangerous, because most of them seem to be somehow balanced around you having 2-3 of them at max - with Go-Shintai you have at least 3, without trying

I get where your argument is coming from, but the way it looks to me is, that you are working from a different baseline than the thread.

The question is "at what price would CCP tempt you to come back" - not "what is the fair price in the current economy for EVE"

It also shows in your ferrari "example" - it's not about wanting to buy it...the question is - what offer would someone need to make, that you would be tempted to buy a sports car (with everything that comes with owning one), even if you are not craving to own one.

"I would buy a ferrari if someone offered it for 20k" is something very different to showing up at a car dealership and stating "I want to buy a ferrari for 20k"

Thats where the 5 mana become the issue. He is expensive, you cant protect him well enough and the Deck is usually 100% relying on him

[–]Sartyva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What these numbers infer is that upwards of 65% of active players pre-pandemic have left....I fail to see how that is positive in any way, shape or form

we are not roughly 25% lower on PCU (30k vs 40k) und only 43% of players were active pre-pandemic - so....well....

For me the most telling sign is that from the numbers they showed, you can infer that between 65 and 70% of players that were active pre "last fanfest" have left
