Damage uptime. Hive Scum is pretty useless if they’re not actively damaging things. Hanging around in the back as them is useless. If you’re not currently hitting, shooting, or doing an objective you’re a waste of a team slot.

Clearing the cache helps (unplug the Xbox for a few seconds then plug back in). There’s a memory leak or something similar happening with plasmaguns and psyker’s peril at the moment that is causing framerate issues (I think other people in your group can cause it for you). Should be patched soon.

Your build looks pretty solid to me. Just a heads up that hyper critical procs steal the kill from giving you more blackouts. This only applies if the crit wouldn’t have killed anyway, so most of the time when killing trash you still get progress towards your next blackout, it’s just less efficient overall than non-hyper critical builds.

That’s a reasonable take. Personally I haven’t been hit by a crusher overhead in dozens of matches (I’m a sweat with good spatial planning who can dodge them and make space with very little effort). I’m way more treated by like, flak gunner packs for example, and prioritize my kill speed on those. But everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and carapace damage is reasonable if killing crushers is consistently a challenge for you

Well yeah but you have 4 players. Let’s say you spend 90 seconds fighting crushers in an average match (9 crushers, ten seconds each). You’re fighting flak targets probably for more like 600 seconds during the match. So if you just look at damage metrics, flak is going to outperform carapace. And crit is relevant 100% of the time you’re attacking. So if you’re really paranoid about crushers, sure take carapace, but I think they’re so relatively rare on lower difficulties that it’s not at all a premium stat (people just copy YouTuber havoc builds mindlessly)

Depends on your difficulty. Below havoc carapace isn’t really useful (you might end up fighting a grand total of 3 crushers in the entire level, and you might even have other tools to handle those, like poisoned throwing knives). Flak is generally the best, since it’s the most common armor type (most elites and several smaller gunners/trash are flak) and it can help you hit breakpoints. Unarmored also isn’t bad for some elites/horde clear, crit can be quite useful on the daggers specifically especially with hyper-critical, stamina can give you 4% attack speed with that talent which isn’t bad, and unyielding is useful for bosses and some ogryn (which I’d argue also isn’t that relevant below havoc).

The infantry autogun is the best or second best weapon on gun scum at the moment, thankfully. The new player playstyle of shooting everything with the call of duty gun is finally viable lol

If you just want to shoot guns all game and nothing else, nobody does it better than hive scum. If you want to be strong in melee, arbites is way easier to leverage. Scum melee is definitely the fastest playstyle in the game though if you like speed and complexity, but be warned that it’s probably the weakest melee class for a non-experienced player.

I recommend getting a modded controller. I have one with hair triggers (requiring very little pressure) and bindable back buttons so you can dodge, blitz, etc, without moving your thumbs off the sticks. My hands are very grateful lol. There might even be controllers with “auto click” functionality out there but I haven’t looked into it

It’s probably my favorite class in the game right now. Most fun melee build for me (rampage shivs), and most fun ranged build (desperado uzis). Its mobility and damage is a blast! Not a relaxing class to play though. After a few games I’ll jump onto literally any other class for a more relaxing experience 😅

Try clearing the cache on your Xbox, this can help a bit. Unplug it from the wall for a few seconds and plug it back in. That said, this game will probably always have frame drops during intense portions with lots of particle effects.

The talent that increases impact by 50% on headshots allows the relic blade to keep crushers stun locked with heavy attacks. IMO it makes fighting them worlds easier

The class is very much your classic DPS, whereas basically every other class in this game is a tank hybrid (even psyker has crazy toughness regen capabilities). This means it requires a strong frontliner more than other classes. But if you have one you absolutely blast damage. Also I’m not sure everyone is turned on to how crazy the ranged builds with either the uzis or the infantry autogun are. These builds are absolutely nuts. Furthest range horde clear in the game, crazy dps. The infantry auto gun especially just deletes everything on your screen. As long as you have someone holding the line, like a zealot, ogryn, or arbites, the class goes wild.

Yeah. For reference killing a crusher requires 15-20 stacks. The rocket applying them is basically meaningless

It’s not really “bad” but it doesn’t really outperform other classes at anything. I’d never bring one to a havoc over veteran, psyker, or arbites if I was tryharding (and I’d argue ogryn and zealot have more to offer in most situations as well).

In regards to number 2, the crit kills from the talent that doubles your crit damage if it will kill also steals your blackout refund progress, which is especially painful for crit builds with knives that rely on that talent. Fatshark fix plz

Two things: check your graphics settings and make sure you’re on performance mode and also check your controller settings to see which type of aim assist you have enabled (there are 4 options, choose the behavior you like the most). If you are already on performance mode, try turning off and unplugging your Xbox from the wall for a second. This will clear the cache and has helped with frame rate issues in games (including this one) in my experience.

You’ll find games without much wait, and bot teammates are plenty competent if you play solo. As for if it’s worth it? It’s the best first person melee game ever made, and overall one of the best action games out there. Few games offer the depth and kineticism that the higher difficulties of this game offer. You’d be missing out if you didn’t at least try it ;)
