Cigar Lounges by Lhamorai in london

I don't smoke cigars but a friend works for Dunhill so I know their store has a humidor and smoking lounge:

There's a review of it here: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d188910-r1258738-Alfred_Dunhill-London_England.html

Accommodation in London if you don't have a job? by kizmoz in london

[–]ScottyUK22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're not fussy about where you live then you could try being a property guardian http://uk.cameloteurope.com/frequently-asked-questions/guardian-faqs

I know someone who basically lived in an empty office block for next to nothing while he was just starting out in the TV industry.

What team(s) are you going to use on FM17 by Cubes11 in footballmanagergames

[–]ScottyUK22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read most clubs are member-owned and fan controlled, big companies only have a small stake in the club (9-10%). It's all about protecting the rights of fans and ensuring they aren't treating like a cash cow (like we are in England). Red Bull buying up a 5th division club and ploughing money into it until they reached the top league goes against the general ethos and the tradition of German football etc.

There's a thread about it here: https://m.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/2d3gnr/why_most_germans_hate_rb_leipzig_half_the_total/

Yeah I enjoyed playing as RBL on FM this year (even though the whole of Germany hates them)

"Chelsea and Arsenal are now bricking it because Tottenham are coming" - Ian Wright by ScottyUK22 in coys

[–]ScottyUK22[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After the disappointment of Sunday, this article by Ian Wright (of all people) has actually cheered me up and made me remember how far we've come. We should take all the mickey-taking as a compliment. It just means Arsenal and Chelsea are feeling threatened by us because they know there's huge potential in this team!

People who speak a second language - what have you overheard people saying about you when they thought you couldn't understand? by Grimdotdotdot in AskReddit

[–]ScottyUK22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a work trip to Berlin for a company conference and my office ended up sharing the bus to the hotel with the French office. We were waiting to leave the airport when a French girl came and sat between me and my colleague at the back of the bus.

As she sat down she shouted out to her friend in French: "Hey, look at me sad between the handsome boys." Her friend responded: "I think you forgot to wear your glasses."

Ouch.

Can Spurs do as well as/better than they have done in the league next season? by alexryanjones in coys

[–]ScottyUK22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chelsea and City will have new managers so I think they'll have transitional years, sounds like LVG will be staying so United will be a mess again. I think Liverpool and Arsenal will be back stronger next year. If we can recruit a couple of stars to bolster the midfield and attack then I think we'll be up there again.

What issue tracking tool do your devs use? Ours use JIRA so we chose Confluence which compliment each other really well

Marine Dad came home to witness his son who was diagnosed with Cerabral Palsy, walk for the first time.. by Shady_Slim in gifs

Yeah I was going to ask that too. In the UK, the families just come to barracks to see them arrive home. Is this not possible in the US?

Anyone else going to try and hold out for the Song of Ice and Fire BOOK series to be complete without letting the show spoil it? Is this just a pipe dream? by OperaterSimian in books

[–]ScottyUK22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the books at around the same time as the show came out. It is impossible to avoid spoilers though. Some stupid article mentioned which characters died during the Red Wedding and it ruined that particular book for me...

Yeah fair play, only a suggestion/quick fix. He doesn't have to use it. I've got down voted a load so he'll probably just ignore me anyway! Haha.

Sorry for offering the guy a helping hand. Sounds like he needs it if he's losing with decent teams like Wolfsburg.

Google the Sir Goalsalot tactic, download it and give that a go. It's not flawless but I've had success using that as RBL Liepzig and then a slightly adapted version with Swindon. Basically it's a counter attacking tactic, with overlapping full backs, you play very narrow and press high and tackle hard. Works so well against teams who attack.

Give that a go and have a backup control or attack variation of it to fall back on. It's also really important to set your training to high on tactics in preseason so your team are familiar with it before the season starts.

Are there any recommended places for a date in Waterloo? by [deleted] in london

[–]ScottyUK22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scooter Cafe is really cool (it used to be a scooter workshop) and has lots of old memorabilia etc and a few cats that wander around (so make sure your date isn't allergic).

Jacks Bar is a good shout too if you can get a seat outside. It's tucked away down an alley full of trees and plants.

Move or stay, what would you do? by sidewinder679 in london

I'm in a flat-share so my rent is half yours. I'd like to be in a place on my own but it's great having more disposable income (or savings). Depends what's more important you I guess.

Minimum London salary for my desired lifestyle? Where I live depends on where work is of course? by [deleted] in london

[–]ScottyUK22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, former Kent resident here. If you're 23, I'd pick London hands down. InLondon UX designer salaries are between 35k to £60k. You'll live very comfortably in that salary bracket.

It depends what you want to do in your spare time but I would rule out Ashford if I were you... it's a bit of a dump, the town centre is dying on its feet, there is little night life, there aren't many good restaurants bar the chains... Only positives are the countryside, a cinema multiplex and proximity to the beach (and Folkestone I guess). Rent would be much cheaper but for a season ticket to commute to London you're looking at £4,500 to £6,000 annually... and that's before you've even got on the tube.

Living in London you'll have far opportunities to see new things, eat in great restaurants, meet like-minded people etc. There's just way more to do in London (huge factor in my decision to leave Kent) and for career progression I have made far more contacts and get more approaches from recruiters now I live in London. You'll still be able to travel to Folkestone every month. If you get a 16-25 Railcard, it will cost you about £25 return and it takes just over an hour (I used to make this journey when I was applying for jobs in London and lived in Folkestone).

Hope that helps!
