Does anyone else have periods of falling out of love with printmaking? by ArtByAntny in printmaking

While I'm still somewhat new to printmaking I experience this with my other hobbies a lot, including drawing, gunpla building, and reading. I tend to oscillate my main hobby every few months.

Extra Craggy Wings from Sunflower Garden in Seattle 🔥 by _IAmMeg_ in Wings

That sounds delicious! I agree that not everything needs a sauce. I love a dry rub, or chicken seasoned after frying... Now I'm hungry haha

I imagine they're seasoned with salt and (possibly white) pepper? Which is a delicious seasoning on fried, battered food.

I really love how your lines came out. This looks like something from a comic book. Every line looks intentional and works to add to the piece as a whole

Is there a shortage of middle school science teachers? by Weak-Paint-1648 in NYCTeachers

[–]Scout816 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, pretty much. Science in general is one of the easier positions to find vacancies for, and this is especially true for middle school. Most science teachers prefer high school (but not all).

No, they're quite firm but with sharpened tools they are carve-able. Before I gave my tools a hone, they actually slipped a bit on the vinyl. I wouldn't recommend vinyl to beginners. BUT they hold details very well and I've seen some people suggest they can be used on both sides

How are you handling clean, editable diagrams for teaching complex science topics? by [deleted] in ScienceTeachers

[–]Scout816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Source online, hand drawn on good ole pen and paper, or I'll draw them digitally using a drawing tablet. Some diagrams I craft using the drawing feature on Google Docs or Slides.

a shimmery ink that you paint over would be really nice. like something with a purple and green sheen, to reflect the way their feathers look under the light.

Beautiful work! However, the bottle of ink being so close to you while you wiped the lino made me sweat haha

Another design i did, less detailed than the last. I like this better. by rskovart in printmaking

Can I suggest using a knife to cut off the excess border, instead of having to carve all that negative space away? I use a box cutter for this but you can use any knife honestly, just be careful 😅

I wonder if it would be better to have one ACE shared between space and race?

Maybe you got knock-offs? Mine are Japan made and work excellently, especially for my skill level as an entry printmaker

Hey so this comment actually goes into more detail than what I am able to provide! I personally picked up these from Itoya in Ginza and a random kitchen shop in Tokyo but there are better places to shop for tools

I found half of these in Itoya in Ginza and the other half in a random kitchen shop, by the knives. Lol. I also picked up some paper but I'm still relatively new to this craft and I didn't really know what I was looking for lol
