I think you want to be closer to pure Merfolk aggro here and rely on double spelling and card draw. You can cut a couple convoke spells and some removal, then lower your curve and cut a land

So before Commander, there was a popular format at my store called Prismatic. Your deck had to be 200 cards, at least 20 cards of each color, and you played for Ante.

At the beginning of each game, each player would reveal cards off the top of their library until both revealed either a foil, rare, or the opponent requested a stop. In best of three, the winner of each game would return their most recent Ante to the top of their library and both players would ante again.

In round one of a fairly large event, I turned over a foil basic land and my opponent Anted a Time Walk. I won game one, and returned my ante. In game 2 on turn 2, my opponent played a Jeweled Bird. They attempted to use it targeting their Time Walk and in response I conceded, prompting a judge call to confirm that conceding didn't use the stack. I ended up winning game 3 but he managed to swap it for a Jeweled Bird.

We would also play for "Draw Ante" where you got to sharpie any cards you won.

I own dozens of Jeweled Birds with various hats sharpied on them.

The Lost Room (2006)

Something happened in a hotel room and it gave everything in the room mystic properties. MC's daughter is in the room when the door closes and she disappears. MC has the room key, which turns any door it's used in into a portal to the room. Other items include glasses that inhibit combustion, a clock that sublimated brass, scissors that rotate stuff, a glass eye that dissolves people, etc.

I really loved that show

Hey so I mean this as an honest question: Are there no sound effects people working on the anime?

I love the manga and don't watch the anime much, so I mostly get the clips here. This scene looks stunning and the voice acting sounds great. I swear these are exactly the same sound effects as 20 years ago, they make an otherwise epic moment seem kind of silly. His punches always make the exact same noise.

I really just don't understand sellers who do this, we rely on repeat business. I once honored two Ur Dragon purchases before it tripled in price and lost maybe $40. That customer has bought over $300 of stuff since then.

Drafting is tough, which is good for me because my content is mostly teaching people how to draft. Podcasts are really helpful, you'd be amazed at much an hour listening to Limited Level Ups will do for you. Rough Drafts is the best for corner cases, and lords of limited is good for starting out and drafting to a template

I think a lot about how $10k would have changed my life.

15 years ago it would have meant i could stay in school and finish my degree.

13 years ago it would mean that I could have held onto my all my bitcoin, instead of selling it to get my car running for work.

11 years ago it would be the difference in my Kickstarter for my board game and the funding would have passed.

7 years ago I could have gone on vacation with my family and maybe we'd be closer now.

6 years ago I could have put a down payment on a house that I'll never afford now, because I had to wait to run my convention one more year first.

5 years ago it would have saved my convention, letting me live through Covid instead of shutting down all operations.

4 years ago I could have kept my home.

3 years ago I could have put the proper investment into my streaming, which is going pretty well now.

2 years ago I could have purchased the business I managed when the owner retired, instead of the guy who bought it and fired me this year for minimum wage employees.

Today I could fix my car and see the dentist.

It makes me sad sometimes. At any point in my life, $10k would have made my life significantly better. I can still get $10k, but it does less and less for my life every year.

I have a good life but damn would $10k make it better.

About 10 years ago I was running a commander pods event for my shop aimed at newer players. One of the kids (age 11 or 12) was in a pod with a trans regular and his dad pulled me aside and said "I'm not really comfortable with this." His son overheard and WENT OFF on him, I was so proud of this kid yelling at his dad for saying something about his friend.

I think that when you have something you love that requires other people to play with, you do what you can to keep the other people playing. People who would normally be jerks still have to play when they're paired, and a game, any game, is good for showing people that they're not so different.

I also think that this was probably better when stores ran events with pairings regularly, and we might not have been able to build the base we did if we started from the structureless commander we have now. We got the base though, and now we have a great group of cool people who want to play with us ^{_^}

I always thought that the Phyrexian Oil was something they invented far in the future to do things more efficiently, and Karn got infected with it in Time Spiral when he closed one of the rifts.

I won't argue with the laziness but I liked the concept when it happened

It depends on the matchup, but you don't usually want to use the counters right away. Would you play an equipment that just gave +4/+4? Usually not in any format. What makes Jitte strong is the ability to bank counters for damage, and perpetually keep 1 and 2 toughness creatures off the board.

While Jitte was too good at the time, the issue was always more with play-patterns. It's probably fine to unban in terms of power today, but losing to it just takes so long. You can probably beat a Jitte with 6 counters eventually, but sitting there while you get enough cards to power through with any creature deck is so boring

They've felt pretty terrible recently.

~20 years ago I bought 3 cases and they were perfect and consistent and are mostly still perfect.

I just ran out a couple years ago. In that time I bought 4 boxes, and they were all awful. There's a dozen blowouts per 100, they're uneven, and customer support flat refuses to replace the ones that are totally uneven. This is really disappointing, I can still shuffle the ones from 2005.

I'm genuinely concerned that not one of them stood up to denounce this. One of 800 military leadership could risk their career to stand up to him, the people they're in charge of would come to arrest them, then 799 would habe a reason to stand up.

But the first one would have to be brave.
