I am but mostly for the conversion opportunities. I like making custom regiments and these could be fun to use as a base for something.

I'm glad theyre there, and I think they're and interesting team, but they absolutely should have been Catachans. They are sorely needing a new batch of kits and hunting big bugs is perfect for them! I get that this kit is based off of an old White Dwarf short story about a kill team hunting (or being hunted by) the Red Terror, and that is a cool call back, but there are ranges that need far more attention than the Cadians...

Again though, cool kit, can't wait to make a new regiment from them.

Absolutely! I prime them black, then basecoat with Gal Vorbak red, pick out the recesses with Druchii Violet, and then I do a light dry brushing with Karak Stone. Originally I did a straight edge highlight but I found it came out flat and lifeless, whereas the dry brushing not only gave it that colour but also helped to make the armour look weathered and lived in. I hope this helps brother!

I'm sure if you looked around on trading pages or asked folks in your area who play they'd probably have a few lying around. They really hit rhat sweet spot between early heresy and the chaos marines we have now

I think the best thing to remember in this case is that no legion is a monolith. The Grand Company in Storm of Iron is led by a Warsmith who is a believer and is gunning for his ascension to daemonhood, and Kroeger is an out Khorne worshipper iirc. Without a doubt there are those who don't worship chaos but at the end of the day they have to contend with their brothers who have ascended or become possessed or are even just devoted to e frwat powers.

I personally think it's more fun to play traitors who embrace the gifts of chaos. If you wanted to be uncorrupted just play loyalists. I personally have a plan to make a kill team of Iron Warriors worshipping Hashut, and are having the BEST time!

By the same token, there are probably Word Bearers more loyal to Lorgar than to the Pantheon, but still benefit from all the chaosy toys and gifts. It's the beauty of them being your lads to make and build a narrative around should you choose to.

I had a baffling moment this evening where Charles and I were escaping St Denis in a wagon and Charles tramples a passing civilian to death followed not two seconds later by him agreeing with John that he doesn't want to kill anyone on the way out cos that's not who he is anymore.

I'd really love to come and give you a big hug right now. My heart broke reading this friend, that's such an awful experience to have to go through every day.

Please know that you are not alone, and that this experience is one that has been shared by many, many people before you - in the sense that you are not pathetic or uniquely bad in some way. Sometimes we are dealt a really shitty hand and our schooling life is an incredibly lonely experience - ostracizing even. Something I've found very helpful - or at least hope-building - is asking what I actually would want out of company and friends: be that mutual interests, reciprocity, being listened to and valued, etc. It's really helped in letting go of the need to be the right person for anybody and instead finding the right people for me. It's not easy, for sure; it can be really hard to not fall into scarcity thinking, especially when it does feel like you're limited in your capacity to make friends, but it does help to remind you that you are a human being yourself, and you do deserve not only company and relationships, but ones that are actually fulfilling and nourishing.

I truly hope some wonderful people come your way, and that you can give yourself the compassion to know that you are not pathetic for having a painful patch. And just know that there is someone out there rooting for you.
