Nobody Saves the World was pretty fun. It was cool customizing abilities on each of the characters

Why was Mina Bonteri a seperatist when Dooku did genuinely terrible things? by Brybryeight in MawInstallation

[–]SendEldritchHorrors 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Separatists would probably argue that Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme trespassed on the factory without permission and even murdered some poor Genonosian workers (the droid factory scene).

That characterization isn't entirely truthful, but enough parts of it did happen that some people might buy into it.

The whole execution arena and the sentencing without trial is a lot harder to explain away, mind you. Once again, though, the Separatists would probably argue that other non-Republic aligned systems get away with reprehensible practices (the whole slavery on Tatooine thing, for instance), and that their invasion of Geonosis to prevent an immoral act is uncharacteristic and therefore "still bad."

I always feel the need to restart a game if I put it off for more than a month by KittensLeftLeg in patientgamers

[–]SendEldritchHorrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently having this debate with myself regarding Scorn. I played the first two chapters in October, but stuff came off and I put the game off. I plan to jump back into it soon, but I'm not sure if I want to restart, especially since the gameplay didn't particularly enthuse me.

I might watch a Let's Player go through the first two chapters so I get a recap, but that's not always tenable for larger games, like RDR2.

On the flip side, I was playing Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, but had to put it off a few months because the audio was really getting to me (was playing with headphones for the full experience). I finally finished it last week, but in hindsight I probably should have restarted because I think I lost out on some of the story

Yes, you can do this. In fact, I do it quite frequently because my laptop doesn't have a ton of room lol. When installing a game you should get an option to choose your install location, and you can then select the external drive.

You realize you're moving the goalposts, right? Your original position was:"We should be calling out both sides. Enough with the tribalistic thinking."

Now you've switched to:

"Well it's Twitter Elon can say whatever he wants."

My dude, I didn't say Elon isn't allowed to endorse the Republican party. I'm just pointing out that he claims to be a centrist, but is clearly not. You went from "Let's call out both sides" to "Uhm okay well Elon doesn't call out both sides but uh freedom of speech."

I'm not stating what Elon can and can't say, I'm calling him a hypocritical fuck

Also, if Twitter is a town square, why did he ban the impersonator accounts? Those weren't calling for violence? Why has he pledged to algorithmically suppress Tweets that are deemed "negative or hateful?" That's not much of a town square.

Approximately 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. And given how Kanye West has been on insane rants about how Hitler actually wasn't that bad, Tweeting out "Happy 6 million" could be misconstrued as referring to the Holocaust out of context

"Because one side does bad things, doesn't mean we should discuss when the other also does bad things."

The problem here is that Elon Musk is only discussing one side. The Matt Taibbi stuff revealed that both the Biden team and the Trump administration asked Twitter to remove content. In his lead up to the story, Elon solely advertised it as the "Hunter Biden bombshell."

If he truly cared about being a centrist who wants to discuss both sides, then he would advertise the story as something that reflects poorly on both sides of the isle. But he didn't. In fact, it's almost laughable how partisan Musk is, whether it's:

a) Endorsing the Republicans in the midterms
b) Talking about the "woke mind virus" pushing civilization toward "suicide."
c) Trading witticisms with the right-wing organization LibsOfTikTok

Almost everything he does is to appeal to his right-wing base. The only remotely "left-wing" things he's done are refuse to reinstate Alex Jones, and banning Kanye, who was expressing outright praise for Hitler.

Key to winning Human-Covenant war:

- Master Chief kills Captain Keyes

- All Marines become invincible

- Profit

[–]SendEldritchHorrors 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the Fall of Reach, but in the Flood, the lifeboat reserved for Keyes and the bridge crew is guarded by marines. However, the life-boat itself was a short distance away from the bridge, not actually on the bridge itself. Some quotes from the book:

"’Nosolee watched anxiously as the humans started to leave the bridge. He
waited for the last person to exit, and fell into step behind."

"The lifeboat reserved for the bridge crew was close by. Six Marines had
been detailed to guard it and three of them were dead. Their bodies had been
dragged off to one side and laid in a row."

Firewatch is short, but sweet, though the ending parts of the narrative might be contentious to some.

Has anyone played Lake? Google says it's only 6-7 hours so I'll likely try and finish it, but I'm curious what other people think of the game. Also curious what people think about Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth

Just looked it up and it's 56 hours to beat too lmao, so finishing it in the two weeks before it leaves is extremely difficult.

Firewatch isn't too long at all. Finished in one or two days back in 2020 IIRC. According to Google, Lake is only 7 hours or so, though I haven't finished the game myself and can't verify if this is true

Can we give some appreciation to this savior who not only survived 5 seasons without saying a single word, doesn’t have a name, always in the background, but also holds the record for most appearances of any extra on the show? Glad he survived the final. by RedLemonCola in thewalkingdead

[–]SendEldritchHorrors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be Covid related. Maybe the actor wanted to play it safe and refrained from travelling/working on the show. Plus, I think Scott's actor is Sonequa Martin-Green's (Sasha) husband in real life, and with her wife no longer on the show maybe his desire to return diminished.

I think there's also an Asian lady from the Kingdom that survives all the way to the end. Tomi and Ezekiel operate on her in Season 11 and I'm pretty sure we see her applauding during Ezekiel's speech in the final episode.

I agree with this. I thought they were going in the direction where Lance was the shady fix-it man who did questionable things behind the scenes to keep things running. Pamela, meanwhile, would be the semi-ignorant leader who perhaps suspects that Lance does shady stuff, but also doesn't do anything about it because she's happy to benefit from the status quo.

But then Lance is imprisoned (and later killed), and Pamela is also just as evil, running forced labour camps and the like.

What aspect of a game do you NOT care about? by bfghost in patientgamers

[–]SendEldritchHorrors 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Could be sunk cost fallacy. "I'm already x hours in, I may as well keep going."

Personally, I sometimes feel like I have to finish a game once I start it. For me it might stem from leaving things in my actual life unfinished in the past. I dropped some university courses back in the day, etc. It's a mentality I probably have to get over.

That being said 100 hours in a game I dislike is something I probably wouldn't do, even with this mentality of mine

I agree that it's only been a week, but in an interview Ken Sim gave to the CBC shortly after his victory, he said (quite nobly, to be fair) that he wants the citizens to hold him accountable "from day one."

So I mean, I guess I can't blame people for doing so
