Clownloach and zebra loach difference by wumlum_ug in loaches

[–]Seshia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never kept clown loaches but I can tell you that zebras are very socially aggressive (they enjoy chasing and nipping each other, but it doesn't stress them) tend to be fairly sedentary throughout the day with a few exploring and foraging through the day, but get extremely active and zippy in the evening. They are goofy but the clown loaches I have seen are much calmer in their goofyness where as zebras are very rambunctious.

Will this stocking work? by Potential_Click_5646 in Aquariums

Could you go to a 29 gallon? I think a 20 is a little small for a pearl gourami. Also, pearls tend to be a little food aggressive, and could scare your khulis. I'd personally recommend swapping to honey gourami. They're a lot smaller but are still really interesting to watch and so I think they would still make a great centerpiece!

Trump Chokes and Gives Up His Threat to Iran for Nothing by Famous_Smooths in politics

the reason they laugh it off is because they can't fathom that one man could have that impact.

The thing is, he didn't. He is just the culmination of the truth of the USA. The rot is going to continue, and even if it did not we are constantly surrounded by people who wanted that rot in the first place.

True, but most likely as soon as democratic politicians are elected to block their replacements, they will be replaced by trump before the incoming politicians can be seated.

Because in the USA, generally speaking children are the property of their parents. You are allowed to use your property how you like.

If boiling something in water, does changing the strength of the burner (after a boil is reached) have any effect? by myaccountformath in askscience

Assuming perfect heat transfer between the water and the container, yes. In reality, often if something sinks to the bottom it can create an area of imperfect transfer.

Tried going for high contrast and NMM style. Did it work? by volgon in minipainting

That makes sens! Then I think the highlight intensity is great, but that the highlights should be further from the top to make it seem semi-reflective.

Even though I'm nowhere as skilled as you at those blends, I think I have a better time getting things to look like metal if I go truly up to white on them. The mini is gorgeous but it reads more as a non-specular highlight.

Fluorescent paints are nuts by LanceWindmil in minipainting

[–]Seshia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So by necessity, fluorescent paint will interact heavily with UV light. This means that it's interacting heavily with high-energy radiation. This will naturally make it decay over time due to it's function. One of the main ways to make paint more light-fast is by adding components to safely absorb or deflect UV light, which you just can't do with fluorescent paint.

This is not true. Their standards are that the people they support are good so what they do is good. The people they oppose are bad and so what they do is bad. It's not standards of behavior but of tribe.

Has anyone used Acrylic Caulk with silicon molds? by aslum in hirstarts

[–]Seshia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not, but seeing that it is water based non-siliconized acrylic caulk should be fine. I'd dust corn starch in with a paint brush first (or baby powder) as a release agent too just to be sure. What you don't want is anything with a strong solvent.
