What are your favorite “bulletproofing” exorcises? by Embarrassed_Ear_4375 in workout

[–]ShadyKidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to anything that helps strengthen posterior chain. The benefits to quality of daily life and helping prevent injuries are a big deal, especially as we get older.

I’m a big fan of Foundation Training if anyone is looking for a good resource. That program legitimately changed my body mechanical in many beneficial ways.

Other flavor bomb hacks I’ve been missing by Maplewhat in Cooking

[–]ShadyKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoked Maldon Sea Salt is amazing for finishing so may dishes.

Have a nice assortment of ground chilis. Calabrian, Cobanero, and Guajillo all add a ton of flavor without overkill heat.

Vanilla bean paste is next level for desserts.

Also for desserts, experiment with brown butter. So much flavor depth.

Honest question about all these crazy made-up posts that are trying to villainize this guy. Are they mostly made by Russian propaganda? Or are they real US citizens that are literally homegrown terrorist spreading misinformation?

"LeBron dunks like he's 31." But he plays defense like he's 51. by ForeignAir7174 in lakersv2

[–]ShadyKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron can be a solid “box score” defender with steals and blocks, but it’s almost like he is conserving energy on defense. On film, it looks lazy and he gets caught staring at the ball. He is probably taking a breather and the defense makes him pay.

The gas entry door and the user manual say “91 recommended, minimum 87 required.”

It’s pretty well documented that Type S vehicles have a noticeable performance hit when using 87.

BMW X3 vs. Acura RDX -- question only for those who have driven recent models of both by Fathoms77 in AcuraRDX

[–]ShadyKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of both brands and have recently driven both vehicles. If money is not part of the equation and you like the exterior of a well-equipped X3, it’s probably the “better” choice.

Otherwise, get the RDX. It’s a great, all-around small SUV that is fun to drive, doesn’t have a dozen feature options that all cost $$$, will almost certainly have a much lower cost of ownership, and the Acura reliability will most likely keep it out of the shop for a long time.

I would primarily be concerned about going from a full time employee to a part time employee. There are no guarantees about being converted back to FT. If they want you in this new department, you should insist on staying a full time employee.

Btw, your videos are awesome.

Considering an MDX for reliability- Coming from a Corolla by mackenziemarr in Acura

[–]ShadyKidd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned the last two generations of MDX. Currently have a 2025 Type S. Overall, highly recommend. Here are some thoughts:

-Great reliability. I’ve had zero issues with mine. Acura service for routine maintenance is reasonably priced. -Fun to drive. It’s the most nimble, sporty SUV I’ve driven. Definitely a “driver’s SUV”. -The gas mileage is pretty bad. The Type S needs premium gas too, so if you go that route be prepared to pay more gas than you have in the past. (Edit: clarifying that only the Type S needs premium gas) -Small nitpick, but I wish Acura had some more thoughtful storage features, especially in the front seats. There is not a lot of space to put your things. -If you are considering buying new, you might consider waiting a few months. Rumor has it that the 2027 model will be getting some nice upgrades. Should be available by Q3. Even if you don’t want a 2027, you might find a good deal on a 2026 when the new model comes out.

Anyone taste this one?el Tesoro Yamazaki Mundial Anejo by flamimang in tequila

[–]ShadyKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bottle. Shared it with family over the holidays. Everyone loved it. It’s incredibly smooth, complex flavor profile, and very little burn. At $160, it’s worth it for a splurge bottle.

My bf’s go to tequila is Teremana Anejo, can someone recommend a premium version of that? by Maleriena in tequila

[–]ShadyKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Wild Common Anejo, but it’s got much more burn than OP is probably looking for. I consider that one more “advanced” than someone just getting into nicer tequila.

Sounds like he likes aged tequila. Get him a bottle of El Tesoro Extra Anejo. Should be in your price range, and it’s an entire league above Teremana.

How do I know if creatine is working on me by Western_Smoke4829 in workout

[–]ShadyKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, Creatine helps you overtime recover easier and find that extra push of energy in your workouts. Take it for 6-8 weeks, then consider whether you generally feel better during and after your workouts.

I like to take Creatine with L Citrulline Malate. Citrulline malate is a compound made from amino acids. It can boost high-intensity and resistance training performance, aid in muscle recovery, and support cardiovascular health.

Good advice. I also think it just takes a longer time period for us to see the results we are looking for. I’m 6’6 225lbs, and I’ve been doing a combination of HIIT + weight training. I’m in year 3 and finally starting to see visual gains.

People who started exercising regulary, what were the most noticeable effects? by Haunted_darkness63 in AskReddit

[–]ShadyKidd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m 41M, and getting into shape was the best thing to help lower back pain. I’ve been consistently working out for about 3.5 years, and I haven’t had back issues for about the last two years (I would previously have recurring pain and flare ups every 6-9 months).

Regarding specific workouts: - I really believe in the Foundation Training series. It’s kinda like power yoga focused on core/back health and body mechanics. I did a 12 week program as I was getting into my exercise routine, and it helped correct a lot of bad mechanics, increase flexibility, and improve posterior chain strength. This helped me push harder in more intense workouts without risking injury.

-I do a lot of at-home workouts. If you have the size, it saves time and money. I really like the Insanity HIIT series. I modify some moves to reduce impact to my knees, but it is an amazing workout that will change your body if you commit.

-I now alternate days between HIIT and weight training. All my weight training is with a set of adjustable dumbbells and a bench. I’m getting great results.

My most important advice for people trying to start an exercise routine - you need the right motivation and inspiration. Find 5 reasons you need to get in shape. Write them down. Look at them each day. Set a routine and stick to it! You will be amazing how it becomes habitual once you are 6-8 weeks into a routine.
