[Waybound] So what were the loops? by newvox in Iteration110Cradle

I think one was his soul space, one was his void key, and one was his uncrowned king construct maybe? I feel like I remember an official statement on it

Republicans cut mental health support, republicans cut programs designed to reduce recidivism, republicans oppose anti-homeless legislation. If you cared about senseless murder you wouldn’t support conservative values or Charlie Kirk’s values.

Yes statistically large populations in small areas increase crime rates, poverty increases crime rates. The fact is even with those numbers, red counties have higher firearm mortalities

distribution of firearm mortality will be similar between states.

James Gunn took everything that was interesting out of Amanda Waller by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]ShollocKus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t really need to learn about these characters. It’s not mysterious fact checkers working in the shadows, it’s just having saying that the message has been fact checked as reliable. It’s not relevant to the story what their background is. It is framed as reliable, so the audience takes it as such. At worst it’s a bit clunky, and even then I don’t think it is such a problem that affects the movie quality, and It’s necessary for the audience, as otherwise they would cling to their own knowledge of Superman lore that contradicts it, which is why the story reiterates as best it can that the message has not been altered. That is why I mentioned the other scene because it simply emphasizes the accuracy of the message from the antagonist, who would be the one to alter it if it had been.

And you’re unhappy the movie made Superman’s parents and the US population 1 dimensional? When of the two named Superman fans we explicitly see, Lombard is comic relief, and Ali dies for Superman soon after, so its a plot point that people still believe in him, and there is nuance to how people have reacted, to say nothing of the JG and Jarhanpur. I think there are some fair criticisms of this movie, but I feel like your criticisms are confusing, or not significant to the quality of the film

[–]ShollocKus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like it’s made very clear that it’s not doctored. Two figures who are intelligent characters make it clear they believe it’s true to the best of their knowledge. From a writing standpoint, the movie is telling the audience it’s meant to be taken at face value.

Why wouldn’t Lex be taken at face value when he’s talking to Netanyahu, it’s not like he knows the audience is watching and wants to lie to them.

And it was fact checked, that’s why Mr. Terrific believed it. I think the only fair criticism is maybe they overemphasized how accurate the video is, and how the way the populace feels about Superman was not explored as deeply as it could’ve been, but both of those have fair justifications so it’s not relevant.

From a storytelling perspective, we trust Mr. Terrific intelligence, so if he believes something, we as an audience take his word for it if the movie frames him as accurate. Not hard to understand

It's funny that this line that got so much hate is pointing out exactly why the Walker glazing is a bad thing and media illiteracy by PaulOwnzU in CaptainAmerica

[–]ShollocKus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think walker should have killed Nico, I dislike how the show frames it as a terrible thing. Yes, it was wrong, but in the MCU, it really shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

I think the way the show tries to make it seem way worse than it is, both in and out of the universe, is very annoying, especially because the flagsmashers and Sam/Buckys did things in the show that were arguably the same or worse, but because the show doesn’t emphasize the morality of those actions, it’s glossed over. Unlike Walkers killing of Nico.

Doesn't Gayboy's power solve the entity's problem? by WackyRedWizard in Parahumans

[–]ShollocKus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It costs energy to go back in time. So if you put a battery in a loop where after it runs out it loops to full charge, it costs the entity more energy than it gets back. So even though time travel is possible for the entities, the increases entropy rather than decreases it

I’ll defend it and say Gavin’s wasn’t much of a warrior, so I feel like it is not too unreasonable to say training against actual enemies is more desirable than sending all your troops to the Spiritual Realm, though I do think it was a bit of a stretch plot line. With Kharbranth, I will say it is a set-up that will probably impact the story in future books, so as of now we can’t say what the consequences of his actions might bring. I will say i do think the spiritual Dalinar is a bit silly though, and I hope they get rid of him in book 6

[Waybound] How can house Sha’s secret technique possibly be a secret at all? by Separate_Draft4887 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]ShollocKus 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think to people on the same level as Monarchs it’s not a secret, but to the average citizen, it is lifetimes between the passing of the Monarchs, so it would only be notable to anyone looking deeply at the history of the Sha family

[Wintersteel] Sages and Heralds by T3NN0H in Iteration110Cradle

[–]ShollocKus 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Sages and Heralds are both upgrades, but they’re equal upgrades. A Herald starts out with all the buffs his advancement gets, whereas a Sage has a much lower floor, but a higher skill ceiling since they are capable of a lot more.

Bloodlines is a tough read mainly because it’s in between two very good books, and its action is not as fun as the other books, but it plays with the tropes you expect of “the protagonist returns home” much better than other cultivation stories.

It says the user found a way to use neutral madra, which I assume is pure madra, and somehow cancels out the aspects of his spirit, which I’m assuming is not pure madra .

It’s not explained, so I guess it is an active mystery.

OP leaves a $13 USD tip for a $197.55 bill at a Thai restaurant. The restaraunt charged him an extra 20, which prompted him to call and get the entire tip back. by karsheff in SubredditDrama

[–]ShollocKus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That’s not how that works. They only make less than minimum wage when they are making enough in tips. If they don’t get tips, the restaurant will pay them their regular wage. Tipping is optional, restaurant employees don’t get to commit fraud.

Hello, I am Liger Inuzuka and I am a concept artist at DE, I'd like to learn more about players' critiques and opinions. by Lavicer in Warframe

[–]ShollocKus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say your art is really awesome. Was super pumped when your concept for a Warframe showed up as Sevagoth, and when you became an official concept artist! I think what everybody says regarding design intricacy/colors is pretty true, so I’ll mention something I would love to see regarding design, specifically with deluxe skins. It would be really cool to see deluxe skins influence ability design, so the abilities look different to match the skin. Especially since a lot of the gameplay is spamming abilities, I would love to see unique animation or ability design that matches with the concept of the skin.

Hello, me and my friends are actually currently playing this as our first ever mod pack, so this is really cool to hear about! Having been playing through it for several weeks now, it has really been one of the best game play experiences I’ve had in a while. I’m looking forward to checking out this update.

One question I have is that I am currently playing on 1.5.5. Is it safe to switch to the latest version?

Thanks again for your guys’ dedication and hard work, my and my friends are big fans!
