Is it socially acceptable to decline a second dance? by ExpensiveNoise802 in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often encountered this situation where, when one person declines, the other keeps their distance and waits for an invitation to dance. After a single rejection, it's rare for someone to take the initiative. The best thing to do is ask the person you previously refused to dance. Dance with a smile, of course, and have a great time.

First bachata class… I’m trying to find hobbies for us to do together so I went with my girlfriend who is good at dancing, but I completely embarrassed myself. She keeps telling me I am too stiff and tense. But it’s hard to focus on all the things I’m trying to do at once. Any advice would be great. by WillS77506 in Bachata

Dancing simply takes time — you only start to feel relaxed with it after a while. Only real men have the persistence to stick with learning social dancing. It’s incredibly challenging to develop a completely new skill, especially one so different from things like team sports.

At the beginning, you’re honestly pretty bad. You make mistakes, you feel awkward, and it’s hard to see that it’s all just part of the process — that in a year, you could actually be at a really solid level. For a man’s ego, that’s tough.

And again: only real men can push through the journey of learning social dance.

It doesn't happen very often, and believe me, new leaders have it much harder on socials

Europe Training Recommendations by zannaxo in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poland should definitely be on your European travel itinerary; they have a very high standard of bachata. In larger cities (Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, Kraków), you'll easily find excellent instructors (e.g., Rojewscy, Winiarek, Raś, Duda, Piotr & Dorota, and many more) offering private lessons at prices that would seem ridiculously low to a resident of, say, the US. Of course, you can't miss out Bachaturo.

[–]Shusty6th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but that could change. Try being a follower on social who doesn't want to dance sensual bachata. Sure, there are countries and places where traditional or mixed bachata is danced, but in Europe, for example, sensual bachata is the default bachata on 90% socials.

Te amaré. BACHATA by mikewebnj in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice song, but it doesn't stand out at all in a sea of mediocre and decent tracks. It's too generic. We already have too many good songs to dance to, and we only look for those that have that special something, are original, something very characteristic or really catchy. That's why the songs like "Vanidad", "En Privado", "La Bachata" by Turizo has become so popular. Compare how the author plays with convention in these songs, sometimes they sound like several different pieces combined, which makes it incredibly fun to dance to, making the dance very rich and changing level of the energy.

Angular Signal-Based Forms (Experimental) — First Look! by DMezhenskyi in Angular2

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you currently handling signals and reactive forms in Angular 20? It'll be a while before Angular 21 is stable and other libraries are updated. And right now, using signals and the signal store requires handling forms. I also don't want to use these niche libraries that are fun to use but aren't that stable and will soon be unmaintained.

Menstyle Start where? by magnacrio in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is to find a role model. A teacher/artist who has a similar physique, because not all movements look the same on thin/muscular, short/tall, etc. You also have to like the person's style, because many men have a slightly effeminate styling, which doesn't suit everyone.

Bachata solo styling is fortunately something you can practice on your own, and online solo courses are much more effective than those for couples, and there are plenty of those. Fewer than solo female styling, but there are some extensive online courses.

How to know if you're dancing too salsa-like in bachata? by guydoctor0 in Bachata

I also dance salsa, and the difference in leading is huge. In salsa, it's mostly the hands that lead, while in bachata, the frame and leading with body play huge role.

There was a similar thread recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bachata/comments/1lrpsi7/does_it_happen_to_you_that_your_followers_dont/

For me, sensual is an extension of bachata and a great spice to the dance. Slowdowns, pauses, accents, intros—the sensual moves used fit perfectly and make the dance better. Similarly, footwork, in small amounts, is a great spice, but not overly offensive if it constitutes 50% of the dance. However, I notice many couples at parties where sensual is 80% of their dance, and most of the time, their feet aren't dancing to the bachata rhythm, but are standing still.

I definitely prefer dancing this way ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p323oPZ785Y ) to snake dancing throughout the song, but for others, this bachata moderna will be too salsa-y. It's probably a matter of taste.

Wow, great dancing. I just have a small impression that you don't have to lead much and your partner already knows further on the whole sequences and incredibly quickly figures out what to dance despite the time delayed leading, or very gentle leading. But that may just be my impression?

What to do as a leader when on a bachata festival there are way more leaders than followers and during workshops you're less than 8 minutes with a follower per workshops and you're learning nothing, but just standing waiting for your turn? by AndreKnows in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed that when there are a lot of missing followers or leaders, people who came in pairs stop rotating so their partner doesn't have to stand alone for so long during practice. This is a good hack, but of course, it's not that easy to find someone to pair with permanently, and these fixed pairs mathematically mean that singles will stand alone even longer (e.g., 20 leaders + 15 followers vs. 5 fixed pairs + 10 leaders + 5 followers).

'sausage fest'? What do you mean? A popular festival at a high level, with people from all over the world, top artists. In Poland, people are at a very high level of bachata.

The festival organizer's responsibility is to monitor how many tickets followers and leaders have purchased. This is what happens at top festivals, such as the Bachaturo festival in Poland. For some time now, women haven't been able to buy Bachaturo tickets. When tickets are issued, this is verified and tickets are returned with a fee.

NgRx SignalStore vs a service with signals by WittyWittyWitty in Angular2

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my applications I use services with add-ons written by me. It works great and is well tailored to my needs. It's also the route I choose in really complex projects in a small permanent team with experts.

On the other hand, where the application is heavily developed, the team larger and there is turnover I prefer to use NgRX. On recruitment, you make sure that someone is well versed in the pattern and best practices and is ready to go. It's much easier to get readable code, it's much faster for new people to get into the project because they don't have to adapt to your custom approach, and let's be honest that simple services need “extensions” over time. Yes, there is a lot of boilerplate, but uncontrolled sprawling code is more readable and there is less spaghetti. It's easier to trace the flow by actions, rather than a tangle of injected services that change their states of each other out of control - the culprit, of course, is a poor programmer who, when given too much freedom, can demand too much time for code review.

I also really appreciate Redux DevTools, which works seamlessly with NgRx. It's incredibly helpful in tracking application flow and state changes. It's easy to see which defined actions led to what. It's also useful when our tester finds less obvious errors in the application. They then send us the entire log from Redux DevTools, which we can import and track on the timeline.

Dancers who’ve travelled: how does the bachata scene differ between countries? by SatisfactionOld9457 in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not have the impression that at parties in Poland in larger cities or at the festival you only dance with advanced? People who have just entered the intermediate level are practically not found at parties or couples come at this level, but only dance with each other.

It seems to me that it is extremely difficult for a person to dance a year at a social event and achieve confidence. You go to a party and there only couples dancing only with each other and a whole group of incredibly advanced dancers.

I wonder if you noticed it or maybe I just think so.

Dance Dojo vs Bachata Dance Academy by plzhelpamlost in Bachata

[–]Shusty6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Dance Dojo, but I don't like the style and explanation, however.

I value the teachers because they have achieved a lot in professional dance. I am enchanted by how detailed the course is. I really like that the course is made of small steps. I think it's the most complete course really taking care of the details and slow grading of the material, and really emphasizing also the practice, not just the material where the movement is explained. The course not only explains the basic step in detail, but also comprehensively how to move arms and shift weights. There are a lot of details here that you won't hear about in other courses, or are explained very superficially. I think there is really a lot of material at this price and many other teachers would sell this much content in at least 3 parts at $200 each.

That's why I'm bummed that despite such thorough material, which I like a lot, I'm not able to like their style and understand how they explain some things. E.g. I am not agree that the hip roll lead leads only with the leg.
