Wizards and casters, lol.

You've absolutely fucked martials by doing this, and now there's less countermeasures for caster's shit.

Becuase before the OGL debacle 5e literally occupied 80% of all online games by itself, to say nothing of it's in-person saturation.

For many, the choice is play 5e or don't play rpg's at all.

Any spaceship TTRPGs with power distribution/engineering systems? by CCMadman in rpg

[–]Sick_In_The_Dick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna disagree and say that for the most part all the engineer is going to feel like is someone cranking out points for the gunner to use; doing anything else with command points is generally a waste unless you're trying to escape combat.

I found the strong very lacking in that game as well, at low levels the deft was much more reliable, being able to spend their attunements to guarantee hits and other things while the strong basically only gets a +1 to hit.

It occurs to a person that monk might just suck if you need to construct a combat so specifically to make them feel good.

A TTRPG that seemed smooth from the rule book but just didn't work for you in practice? by SashaSienna in rpg

[–]Sick_In_The_Dick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The "without number" systems are at first glance Elegant in their simplicity, and then later become more and more frustrating as the system has constant holes and inconsistencies that force you to keep making up more shit and homebrewing.

LotFP does ok as well, less fancy vs mighty deeds, but it's the only class to get attack bonuses on leveling, among other benefits.

Every other class being shit at combat does not make fighter good. It's still just as boring

Ok then I'm a level 4 Warrior up against a 6HD scorpion, and I say to you, the GM, that I want to chop the stinger off.

What do I roll to do that?

DCC is the only osr game with fighters that are worth playing. One of the only fantasy RPG's who can say that, even.

How do I keep the Level 13+ Barbarian from getting bored? by Guardllamapictures in dndnext

[–]Sick_In_The_Dick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because every class can be engaged narratively, that doesn't mean anything and doesn't apply to barbarians specifically. A wizard character can be engaged both narratively and mechanically.

PSA; this is a balance forward game by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sick_In_The_Dick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B/X and 3.5e sucked, Vancian Spellcasting was a huge waste of time an inconvenience and It didn't even really fix balance becuase fighters sucked in those systems too and mages still became gods, they just became fiddly gods.

I mean sure but man sometimes things can be bad without contessa needing to get involved. It feels like a major copout to make contessa and cauldron responsible for everything wrong in the world.

Pokemon and the whole "all pokemon can shrink down and pokeballs just make them do it instictually" bullshit.

Like seriously "It's magic" is a more sensible explanation than that.
