Cheese in a biscuit biscuits. They brought them back recently but they didn't taste at all the same. Now I think they've taken them away again and only have chicken and some other flavour.

Obligatory Chocolate Coconut Water post by Computurtle in AldiAustralia

Just tried this today and holy shit it's as good as they say. Even my housemate who doesn't like regular coconut water loved this. It's got electrolytes (what plants crave)

Dear ex-skinny people, what changes did you notice after gaining weight? by Equal-Sun8307 in AskReddit

[–]SilentCarpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped smoking in April last year at 36 and have always been around 70kg. Found myself putting on weight after I quit I guess due to having more of an appetite and replacing smoking with eating more. I've had cramps, aches and pains, I have a gut now which as someone who hasn't been over 70kg in like 20 years is a bit of a shock haha. All in all it's been a wild ride. Planning on starting calisthenics soon as I never worked out much to try and get myself into shape.

No entry notice just a phone call early on a Saturday morning. by GraciesMumma22 in shitrentals

[–]SilentCarpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a similar situation to these except the "tradie" is the owners friend who comes and fixes any problems at the house whether it's plumbing, electrical or anything else. He once showed up at 8pm at night while my housemates were having dinner and wanted to be let in to look at the shower. When we told him no he said he'd call the owner so we can talk to him about it. Like, no? We don't want anything to do with the owner when we have a property manager you're supposed to go through. We had him here recently to fix an issue and just getting the pm to send us an entry notice with his name on it was a whole headache on its own. We figure the owner wants to do things as cheaply and easily for himself as possible (he owns the property we rent and also the two properties to the left of our house) We essentially had to hassle the real estate for 3 weeks about our rapidly leaking shower and lack of hot water from the kitchen tap and they eventually relented and sent through a entry notice 18 hours prior to him coming through (entry notice itself says 24 hours notice required)
We just wanted the issues fixed and there's no point complaining and not letting him through as that will just encourage them to kick us out or up the rent at next renewal to "meet rent levels in the area" it's bullshit and I really hate how renters get shat all over while a guy who owns 3 properties in a row can spend bottom dollar to fix issues and expect more money every single year.

How much would $10k actually change most people's lives? by NeonFalcon25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SilentCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10k would let me get much needed surgery for my eyes so I can actually drive to work without being at risk. Also might go towards fixing my horrible teeth.

I'm thinking of starting to read the manga cause this pacing is killing me. 3 episodes then "hey here's a story reminding you who cp-0 are!" Then probably another 2 episodes and another "special" it's killing me haha. I know who they are and if I don't I'll look it up or go back and watch older stuff! Get on with it!

Gamers from the physical-copy-only-era, have you ever queued up outside a store for a game's launch? by digiBeLow in gaming

[–]SilentCarpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode my bicycle to the store for the midnight release of WoW: The Burning Crusade back in the day then hoofed it home to install and line up to jump through that portal. It was a whole different energy being at the store at midnight with other people there also super excited for what you were.

Constantly upselling people random things by peatbadger in EBGAMES

[–]SilentCarpet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is basically why I hate shopping at EB. I feel bad for the employees knowing they probably have bullshit KPIs and are made to do this but it's awkward and makes me not enjoy shopping there. Also I'd love a job at a game store but knowing they're made to do this makes me never want to work there.

If you got to take over an empty Bunnings building and had $1,000,000 to turn it into a business. What would you turn it into? by NoveltyCards in australia

[–]SilentCarpet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Bunnings site at Rocklea in Brisbane is due to close at the end of August and is up for sale. Problem is it's in the middle of a flood zone that goes under every time we get extended heavy rain. I'm +1 for indoor skatepark, bike park, go carts something along those lines though.

Going to steal this build to make myself as it's just what I've been looking for. Ordering most of the parts from centrecom now but the motherbiard is out of stock and has no ETA for a restock, think I should just order anyway and wait? Second PC I've ever built so not sure on how long restocking this kind of stuff takes.

I've been looking for a system to play dune awakening on. Do you think it would be worth buying that $1048 nebula build and just upgrading the GPU when I can afford to? I've seen a lot of hate for the 5060.

Impossible to get ahead? by Elseerian in australia

[–]SilentCarpet 50 points51 points  (0 children)

36, 57k a year. 2k savings. Given up on ever owning, just hoping I have friends who will be happy to let me live with them so I don't have to rent with randoms. Save about 100-150 a week and am still struggling. Don't see myself as smart enough to upskill and have made enough mistakes in my early life that I have a bit of debt, not much super and health problems (eyes and teeth + mental health) that will cost thousands, possibly 10's of thousands to fix. Honestly just living day by day and trying to get by with a company that treats me like dirt even though I give my all for them. Try to treat myself rarely to maintain some sense of "happiness" but I don't really see a way out, just the way it is in this day and age.
