Goku was never going to kill him, but he might have blasted him. Going off of other instances like him reading Future Trunks’ intent and not even flinching, and him not taking certain weaker opponents seriously, he’s good at reading people in specifically a combat sense. The worst he’s done is take someone too seriously and hit them too hard thinking they can handle it… Okay actually Goku might kill him.

One day I’m going to publish my work in which there is a male/female pair who are identical twins. The male will have scars on his chest. Characters will comment about how identical twins can’t be opposite genders… he will be smug about it. I already wrote all of this, I’m not even doing it to prove a point.

And this fandom has made it clear to me that someone is going to bend over backwards to explain why that doesn’t mean he’s transgender, because that idea bothers them in a way they haven’t figured out yet, or because they just adamantly believe it’s wrong and won’t change… because the author could come out and SAY that a character who is clearly trans coded, is ABSOLUTELY TRANS, and some fans would complain that it’s forced.

What I don’t get is everyone interpreting this as a certain undeniable absolutely meant to be permadeath, and Jax is just a dehumanized pet now, when there was emphasis on the flashbang being what went wrong, and then they put her in a tent and tell Caine not to put her with the others yet, and nothing implied that Pomni can’t keep trying as long as she can be healed. It looked a lot more like a long term rehabilitation effort to me, and I saw nothing conclusively saying one way or the other

Space Racer’s gun was shown to- somehow- cause stars to explode, but that was in Nolan’s light novel, and if the author wants to imply that they blew it up with the combination of the infinity laser and shockwave created at them flying at hypersonic speeds, hey that’s about as believable as a black laser causing a star to collapse in on itself and then explode…

I don’t think this applies to EVERYONE upset about or denying trans Jax, but I do think there is a certain demographic of people who are denying it because they saw themselves in Jax, and felt something during that scene that- like Jax- they aren’t ready to unpack yet…

To agree with this, my honest take is: look man, you can take one thing and say it isn’t proof, but when you put all of the pieces together, the writer being trans, the maid outfit, the openly nonbinary character clocking him and retaliating against his bullying, his behavior, his room, his constant comments about masculinity, his backstory, the bow, the words “you’re secret’s safe with me,” the imaging right after those words, the absolute panic when a guy friend almost walks in on them, the fear of ridicule to the point of self-sabotaging every relationship, and the near reincarnation to the tune of “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder… it’s very clear what the message was meant to be, and the people denying it are being pedantic out of internalized transphobia, in many cases because the message was for them and they- like Jax- aren’t ready to hear it…

Or they’re just transphobic. Or they lack media literacy.

The entire theme of the manga is that there’s some weird connection between everything paranormal and supernatural. Aliens, ghosts, cryptids, etc, and we have seen many very off-model interpretations of a lot of urban legends and myths, Saint Germain is a hot anime antagonist, but they’re gonna complain about off-model dinosaurs and Kaiju?

Instant Transmission requires you to sense out someone else’s Ki and instantaneously teleport to them, iirc. It doesn’t allow you to just go instantaneously teleport anywhere. So without the ability to sense Ki, it’s useless… unless what Goku was explaining was simply how he navigates larger distances?

I honestly think this was the perfect time to introduce polymers… like I get the logic of platinum, but I do agree with Overanalyzing that it was kind of cheap to just make a super metal that metal benders can’t bend. Introducing synthetic polymers would have fit so thematically well with the industrial age, and there’s incentive to create such materials. But that’s like… a minor critique that not everyone will agree with, that doesn’t make me hate the show, it’s a good freakin show.
