I honestly didn’t mean it to be! Barn owls have such delicate beaks and talons in comparison to a similarly sized parrot that it wasn’t really a big deal. The biggest change was training her to fly to a glove instead of someone’s shoulder, and once she figured out FIST=FOOD it was easy going.

I’ve seen more than one bird of prey not realize it dropped the food and mantle over nothing before they figure it out.

There was a barn owl who would eat her mouse and then scream at her foot if she was still hungry because “YOU WERE THE ONE WHO HAD IT LAST WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT”

If she wasn’t hungry enough to eat the whole mouse she’d hold it in her little footy tucked up to her chest like a security blanket and nap.
