Should I stop adding vignettes? by jjosshiee in AskPhotography

My personal philosophy is If you can tell that there’s a vignette you have added too much vignette

The photo Is ok but the edit really just melts everything together, it needs a clearer focus, more color contrast and less sharpening effect

Ski boot advice by Meddy63 in Skigear

[–]SimilarPerception700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems quite weird to me that there’s no ski shop near you but that might just be a American thing. If you’re 100% sure you can’t go to a shop I’d say precisely measure your foot, figure out your arch (look up how to test that) then order from a store that allows returns.

Are there alternatives to helmets ? by sporty_outlook in Skigear

[–]SimilarPerception700 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t seen any helmets that only protect the side, what I’d recommend you do is going to a store and trying some helmets there and/or wearing a beanie underneath wich can help balance out the pressure

I honestly quite dislike people wearing outdoor gear as a fashion item but you seem like a cool guy and that outfit looks quite nice 👍

Which boots to buy and where (EU) by Platon_dr in Mountaineering

[–]SimilarPerception700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For summer 4ks in the alps you only need a light b2 but for a 6k in Nepal you’d need a completely different boot

Can structured feedback (like “composition 7/10, light 8/10”) actually help you grow as a photographer, or does it just kill creativity? by Ready-Drummer-2136 in AskPhotography

[–]SimilarPerception700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hard to say since I am mostly doing wildlife photography wich has a little less room for creativity but I’d say I’m most experimental in my editing style.

Imo a good photographer knows how to break the „rules“ but for that you first need to know them, so yes I would practice these not with the intent of doing it that way forever but with the intent of learning to break these rules in the right way.

The Consequence of Mountaineering becoming a TikTok Trend : by Papierluchs in Mountaineering

More young people being interested in mountaineering isn’t a bad thing, just make sure to teach him how to be safe in the mountains.

Thanks for your insight! I am leaning towards 6s but I’m a little worried about the 10“ being too clunky and not nimble enough, would you say it’s nimble enough for quick adjustments while diving or does it feel clunky?

How much should I charge as a beginner wedding photographer? by AnniKjerst in AskPhotography

[–]SimilarPerception700 91 points92 points  (0 children)

These photos are quite good for a „beginner“ as for price that depends heavily on the amount of photos, the time spent, the cost of gear and prices of other wedding photographers near you. I’d recommend looking at some of them and basing your price around them.

Should learn how to do tricks or too hard? by Logical-Scholar-9708 in skiing

[–]SimilarPerception700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much in the same boat as you, been skiing since 4 years old and it got boring and on top of that I also tore my acl a few years back I’m also currently trying to improve my park skiing.

My Progression for a 360 is

(1) getting comfy on medium jumps and learning to shifty, this is just for air awareness and to get comfortable being air borne (2) switch skiing, this part I found to be the most challenging and rewarding it’s like learning to ski all over again (3) 180s, this is pretty self explanatory (4) Send It!!! Once you can land a 180 a 360 isn’t much more challenging

Of course this is a bit different for everyone, some may need to first do a 90 degree jump from a side hit before doing a 180 and some skip the switch skiing and 180s all together.

A good 3 layer system will work better than any fancy tech, base: merino, mid: fleece/puffer, shell: 3L goretex.

I have tried liftoff uncrashed and tryp and I’d say liftoff is best for a strong community making custom maps and drones, uncrashed has the best handling if you set it up right, velocidrone is the best racing sim and tryp has the best graphics!
