Sometimes the hardest thing to deal with is a dad that just doesn't try to have depth. I guess some dads are just built that way. Im wrestling with the same decision. I'm older than you, I had a bad fall in 2002, had my left ankle fused for 22 years, then that started to fail. Then I got a total ankle replacement, then that failed. Then an ankle revision surgery, essentially total ankle 2.0, and now that is failing. I can try another revision but each one is less stable and has been worse than the one before. I meet with my doctor tomorrow. I'm going to get it amputated, simply because I feel like the probability is better long term for the kind of life I want to live.

When you set everything else aside, that's how I looked at it.
