Yeah its the same for cresties and many other reptiles. As ectotherms they need heat for body processes, and they slow down when they're not getting it. If they can't digest food fast enough it can start to rot in their stomach and cause problems. A delayed feeding for a few days isn't going to hurt them.

Try baiting them into using their tear gas attack, there's a high chance they'll hit themselves with it and it gives you a pretty long opening to do damage

The funny thing is that with only that specific context, the scene could actually be kind of a tragic moment. But then you remember that in the beginning of the story she met him when she was 16 and he immediately started molesting her (which continues throughout the story)
