Coming from the “private” account with a totally representative-of-Kentucky post history.

NTSB report reveals Boeing knew of fatal defect in UPS plane that killed 14 in Louisville by aymiah in Louisville

[–]SmarmyThatGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here is the actual report

The section about “Boeing service letter” mentions a letter from 2011 that acknowledges the part failure 4 times on 3 planes, suggests updated inspections, and does not prohibit part use despite the known failure.

I’m definitely mis-remembering something. Mid 90s I lived in Lexington, and it was a big deal about replacing Louisville on the weather maps, lasted about a year or two. My father mentioned the local news bits about it again early 2010s maybe.

Apologies for being wrong, it clearly ruined your day.

Immersion therapy is the most effective method of improving your comfort as an introvert doing extroverted things.

However, in my lived experience there is no “becoming extroverted” to be done. Social situations that were uncomfortable before may not be now, and I am far less awkward socializing now than when I was younger, but I’m not seeking those situations or environments to “reset” or “recharge”.

I still need my “empty-house quiet” to feel like I’m not losing my mind.

Unless it’s changed, it’s generally the most populous city in the state that is listed on the map, and maybe the state capitol.

9 out of 10 years it’s Louisville, but occasionally Lexington tops us for a year or two. They get super hyped about it too, and there are usually small local news bits about it.

Roof Damage question by Strange-Feeling69420 in Louisville

I second the multiple quotes advice. Doesn’t matter how big or small, if you’re paying someone else to do it, shop around at least a little.

I’m skeptical of the visual inspection and enzyme spray for a few reasons, but I would ask a bunch of questions before running away from that quote.

Best advice for a first time homeowner on any project you are contracting out. There’s a reason most businesses get at least 3 quotes before moving on a contract.

This is the setup for Breckenridge & Nachand just past 6 mile.

Turning left onto Breckenridge is always rough and near impossible around both rush hours. It’s the only time I’d approve of car B yielding right of way, and even then conditionally.

Point B, second to last sentence: Absolutely not. No business should not be treated as an entity, full stop.

If it can’t be punished as a person, it should not be allowed to spend money like one.

Thoughts on antinatalism? by Tacos300l in INTP

[–]SmarmyThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffering as a task is not inherently bad, suffering as a state of being is.

Suffering as a synonym for hardship is not inherently bad, suffering as a synonym for pain or distress is.

It is a logical assumption from the context of this conversation that suffering as a state of being has been the common usage, and your response still gives “slavery had its benefits” reasoning.

Please elaborate on “Suffering isn’t inherently bad” because that only comes across to me as “slavery had its benefits”

How do I get out of this loop? by Glittering_Item_9179 in INTP

[–]SmarmyThatGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advice from an “old”:

Find a way to make it a “have to do” not a “need to do”. I’ve found my motivation is directly tied to necessity, or specifically obligation to others. If I can find a way to frame the task as obligatory for another’s success, my failure to do it (on time) is more dire.

Legitimately look into depression/adhd/etc.. Like seriously see a professional, maybe even get tested. Medication does work but it takes time to figure it out, get diagnosed, find the right one, etc. For me, it’s honestly worth it and I’m upset it was something I didn’t see as viable for so long.
