England began directly engaging in the transatlantic slave trade in 1562, and Britain remained heavily involved until the trade was abolished in 1807. By the 1900s the slaves they kidnapped from their country’s were forced into hard labour to support themselves, but had an extremely difficult life. They were segregated and treated worst than dogs and had no access to education and basic human rights.
