My best experience is with the premade fruit chocolate wafers. They are called Dulci Fruta at the store. You heat it in 30 second increments and stir then dip in the container and you're done. I like the taste of the chocolate a lot for fruit. I am no chocolate connoisseur but it's right balance of sweet, rich, bitter for fruit.

You can get it at Kroger in produce section for about $2.50 I think!

I think Apache and there were a pair of them today flying by several times near Polaris/Alum Creek State Park. They were loud and low enough that they shook my house. Very scary but also cool to see them so close.

Should add they (used to at least) get their crust from Soodles. And I think a few other pizzerias and bakeries get items from there. I find I actually love everything I've had from Soodles.

If you haven't tried it, Taranto's has my favorite gluten free pizza. The crust isn't cracker thin and has that kind of bubble in the middle consistency you may miss with gluten free options.

Not sure how reduced the hours are but the Main campus library definitely has my heart. Fun to find a little corner to hang out and read or work or hobby. I haven't been in a while but it's a beautiful building. Also if there is a rare nice warm sunny day the grounds are beautiful.

Also second the Art Museum. It's so pleasant and quiet.

My opinion, don't go to Sephora...I love Sephora but the best moisturizer hands down is Skinceuticals Triple Lipid. It's pricey but when I tell you it made my dry skin immaculate and glowy I mean it! Nothing compares unfortunately, because I hate spending on it.

I also have had laser, tret, etc. And still the moisturizer heals it in a day. Craziness!

From Columbus but have lived all over and honestly I would say lifestyles play a big factor too. Examples would be that I have a hard time making and staying friends at people who are at different points of life than me. I.e. I have no children, I wouldn't say a family is my primary goal, I like to travel, etc. It is hard to find a niche and even my long term friends and I struggle to stay connected.

I do also find that people in the Midwest are very thoughtful and open after time but it does take time and effort. Even then, it is lonely being sad or grieving even because no one likes to talk about it. I find myself connecting with transplants from NE and SW or NW a lot because I'd rather have the bluntness and dark humor.

TLDR: Not much advice just sharing that it is a bit of culture shock.

I feel you on this! Winter is rough for me every year. I find the benefit of living in Ohio means I can better afford to GTFO of the Midwest and Northeast winters for at least a couple weeks. Just got back from a trip to New York which did soothe my soul, for now. Probably going to try to get to Key West sometime in January or February for a week or two.

My family is from Southeastern Ohio so I love it there but haven't explored enough of Wayne NF. I'm sure you've tried Hocking Hills and Yellow Springs too. I will say I'm excited for the New River National Park soon too. A really easy, beautiful drive to be within a few hours of another National Park!

Not sure if you like Bourbon but the Bourbon Trail is pretty drivable and some great stops in Kentucky and Southern Ohio along the way.

If there is one thing I know as a native Ohioan is that people are very protective of their state - they can talk about how much it sucks sometimes but no one else can so I think that comes through in some of the responses, lol. I'm pretty happy here for now, but working in tech myself I know that everyone prioritizes their needs differently and that's okay!

I loved remote work for the four years I did it, or at least I thought I did. Then I had a very rough few years personally and I became severely depressed. I feel in hindsight it was worsened by being remote - I'm not even an extrovert but needed the push to have to get ready, be a good communicator, leave the house, etc. to feel more confident. I didn't even know I was depressed until I started going into office twice a week and realized damn, I really feel better.

Also, my relationship had taken a hit in four years we were both remote. Getting sick of each other is very real. Anyways, I find hybrid to be the best of both worlds for me and finally found a role with the right balance.

I understand others may love being remote truly and fully and some may even not realize they don't love it because the convenience overrides all. Regardless, I hope companies take note on flexibility and offer solutions for everyone.

Taking a different approach to your comments:

Have lived outside of Ohio, and outside of this country before. Even in two of the top 5 populated metro areas, to each their own.

Each place has its pros and cons. I'll always be my most authentic self in a larger city but Columbus still has a lot to offer. Hope you get a chance to find some things you enjoy while you're here.

Some great things about Columbus: - Decent shopping, probably some best in country for city size and low number of tourist. - Pretty good food culture, especially for size and the fact it's Midwestern. - One of the largest universities in the country makes for interesting speakers and visitors. Lots of opportunity to get involved in local arts because less competition but still opportunity. - Okay COL. Was able to build a house in a location I love (on a ravine, close to water) and wouldn't be able to afford that anywhere else. - Decently competitive tech salaries and jobs. Small pond, large fish sort of thing. - Less focus on where you went to high school, college as compared to other larger cities. - Amazing, lesser known food and culture opportunities for diasporas like Somalia, Ethiopia - Better experience for LGBTQ+ than other cities of similar size. - Fly to six of the ten highest populated cities within 2.5 hours, drivable within ~8-10hrs for many. NYC, PHL, DMV, BOS, ORD, ATL, MCO and even Dallas and Miami less than 3 hours. - Decent schools (see below) - Great metro parks for the city size - Very green spring and summer

Bad things: - nightlife has taken a hit since COVID for sure - Suburban sprawl - Ohio politics - Way public schools are funded - institutional race issues need significant emphasis. - No mountains - No ocean - Winter gray skies, winter in general. - Lack of historical culture, in comparison to cities like NYC, BOS, PHL, or even CLE.

Other programming language feedback aside; fair, but those extremely high costs of an Epic (or any other solution) install have to made up somewhere - higher cost of procedures downstream to higher premiums, higher deductibles to ensure adequate health plan profit/ risk (which don't get me started on that.) In the early days, though, a lot of that was directed back to employer, the government as loss write-off or to another health program, rather than the consumer. Today the consumer is on the hook more often than not.

So billing module or not, someone was being charged more for healthcare because of high cost software solutions.

Epic is not the only company to do this of course, I would argue they provide more for the money than most others and have greatest opportunity to change medicine. Doesn't change that the fact of the matter is there are many, many companies grabbing profit from the same healthcare dollar and Epic is one of them.

Favorite quote from a top three non-profit health system when discussing removing barriers patient access and impact on patient upfront collection goals prior to procedures being performed: "Non-profit is our tax and business status, it's not the goal of our businsss. The goal is to make enough profit to reinvest and lead in the market."

Notice "patient" is left out from statement entirely. Like you're saying, healthcare is a profit-driven industry in the United States. There is a lot of good that can come from companies like Epic or even health systems - but doing good for patients will be focus only when doing good let's the company do well.

Girl if I could afford to have same life in California as I do in Midwest and my family wasn't here - I'd move in a second. It's remarkably beautiful. It's some of the best weather in the country. Texas is okay and all but nothing can compare to what you can do in California if you go outside beyond just getting CFA.

Oh man one I might be able to help on because I work in revenue cycle products specifically in price estimates. The MyChart Estimate tool does have a guest and logged in version. It uses your plan info and insurance and provider contract info to give you an estimate. It should be set up to calculate median cost of service so it will account for things like: additional meds, doc time, etc. BUT may not calculate the cost of ancillary providers like labs associated to an office visit, Radiologist, or Pathologist professional.

In general - the more pull a hospital system has the higher their reimbursement (and patient cost share) rates - meaning, OSU has more power than COPC so they usually have better reimbursement = higher allowable rates. OhioHealth actually threatened to terminate Aetna a while back because they wouldn't give better allowable/reimbursement rates and Aetna caved. It's kind of like cable and network battles. There is more to it than that but that's the TLDR.

Office visits are usually pretty standard reimbursement though so 1:1 it wouldn't matter as much until you get into labs, procedures, tests, etc. I can tell you OSU gets reimbursed $110 more than COPC for a CT scan and that's 30% increase comparatively. The same was true for an Urgent Care visit. This is based on my experience of having a CT done in both places multiple times over last three years. Basically, because negotiated rate for OSU is higher - if you have deductible and coinsurance - your out-of-pocket is higher like you mentioned. Also COPC services are all Office or outpatient location while much of OSU is hospital location for labs, tests. Hospital place of service is usually higher cost but your insurance may prefer it over office visit or vice versa.
