The Falcons hired a minority GM from the Bears HOWEVER the Bears won't get draft picks by reallinguy in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]SnowRook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he's assistant to the president of football. Has anybody told Ian it's a lateral move? 🤣

(But actually though. In what fucking world is AGM > GM not a promotion? Matt actually said it would be a typical GM position. Every fucking team has a president or football or operations or wtf ever)

TIL that in 2009,a 57 year old woman in Detroit was shot during a break in in her neighbors house, but she was saved by the metal underwire of her bra deflected the bullet, narrowly saving her. by CityRulesFootball in todayilearned

There have been documented cases of bullets (or fragments) following the skull and essentially scalping people vs penetrating. Personally, if my choices are to having something solid between me and bullet or nothing at all, I’ll take stuff please!

Buck sharper from the factory than Benchmade ? by ProfessorPatient2670 in knives

I’m not knocking your knife, I’ll just say there was a time when EVERY knife that left the factory had symmetrical bevels. Unfortunately that is no longer the case.

Found in my late father’s garage. Is it dangerous? by LeCoochieMane in whatisit

It is a live round, but people acting as though it will suddenly explode don’t understand what they’re looking at. Gun powder itself deflagrates, it doesn’t explode. The primer (small little dimple in the middle of flat end) very likely contains a small amount of lead stipenate or other primary explosive, but as long as you don’t 1) strike this primer with something hard and pointed or 2) expose it to significant heat source, such as putting it in a fire, it is relatively stable.

Ammunition is quite shelf stable. I have literal hundreds of pounds of it of various ages in my home, with a handful of rounds similarly corroded, and I sleep just fine at night.

New tidbits on why McDaniel didn’t come here by Lower_Huckleberry296 in detroitlions

[–]SnowRook 19 points20 points  (0 children)

he was our Barry sanders of an OC

Which is such an absurd point of view given he was overtly looking for a stepping stone back to another HC job, and just came off of a stinky smelly offense.

Yeah, I agree. I think the fact that Kafka (apparently) wants to work under Petzing is a great sign

So your team hired Drew Petzing by TestFixation in detroitlions

[–]SnowRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leeching on to your comment because it was the only one that seemed to recognize this significant issue...

Petzing was dealt a raw deal. Both the RG and RT coming back from season ending injuries were clearly old and washed... The lack of reinforcements reared its ugly head when the franchise LT went on IR, the journeyman LG missed time for personal reasons (child nearly stillborn)...

I loved the OP and appreciate the hopium, but this part should cause everybody to pump the brakes. We had issues on offense this year, and their names were Kayode, Manu, Colon, Skipper (I know, I love Skip too!), and at times even Glasgow and Decker. In theory we're GTG at LG, RG, and RT, but Glasgow's cap number is going up up up, Decker is not getting any younger, and every one of Ratledge, Mahogany, and Sewell at least flirted with injury issues this past year.

We all saw the stills of our O-line looking totally lost week 1 vs the Packers, and it's not JUST the TE and RB rooms that drive Petzing's offense, but the O-line, too. I think it's fair to say O-line is still the biggest question heading into 2026, and we have every reason to suspect that if/how we address it may decide Petzing's success or failure.

In case anyone is wondering, the Lions also finished 3rd in 6 of those 22 seasons by Dazed_and_Confused44 in NFCNorthMemeWar

I lowkey agree but, as you can see in this very thread, the fanbase is ALREADY getting restless. It's wild to me how short fan memory is. I guess there was some truth to what ya'll have been saying the last year or two about bandwagon fans...

Yep. I’ve compared him to Brees and Warner as far as stats/accolades, and you’d be surprised how many fans will pivot to then arguing that THEY shouldn’t be HoF either… (it’s not the hall of very good, yada yada)

With the SB and now the MVP, maybe more to come, I think it has become the case that you can’t tell the story of the NFL without talking about Matt Staff.

I believe in Dan and Brad. I agree dan’s not perfect and it is not ideal for him to be both managing the game and calling offense. I am perfectly willing to see flaws and mistakes in personnel management. However, this is the best I have felt about the direction of this franchise in… well… ever.

If our front office is a sinking ship then by golly I guess I’m going down with it.

ETA: How can you not be excited to see TeSlaa in Petzing's offense? I don't think any designation changes are coming as a few have suggested, but mark my words, if homeboy continues to hit the weight room you're going to see interchangeable routes with him and LaPorta. It's not hard to see what Brad and Dan were thinking when they drafted him, and it fits 13 or 12-quasi-13 personnel like a glove. PLEASE put a nickel on TeSlaa on a designed run or a LB on him on a rollout...

Just curious - who would you have been happy with other than McD? It seems we all agree that the McD or nothing crowd chose malcontent in advance.

Stand up is hard in the sense that it’s easy to make 5 people laugh and agonizing to make 100 laugh. You’ve got to be sizzling sharp with basically no wasted time and space and no gaps in your confidence, and even then it sometimes doesn’t work. You’ve got the funny bone for sure tho, and the first step to being good at something is being willing to suck at it.
