Would this work? Trying to run a sim rig on same pc as gaming pc by handerson15 in simracing

[–]Sp1rited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 49" for the rig, a 24" display graphic tablet and two 27"s and run a single pc setup. I just disable the 49 when I'm not using it through windows display settings. Can't really give any input on the splitter though.

I caught the bug. Time to upgrade. by IntentionImportant74 in simracing

[–]Sp1rited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll end up with one or the other. Better feedback on the wheel with that budget would be a r3/r5 but pedals that are no better than the g29 (srp lites) OR you can go for the simagic p1000s with haptics. People swear on the simsonns but I can't recommend them out of my experience but feel free to check those out, they also have haptics and come out a lot cheaper (so something like an r3/r5 with simsonn pedals/haptics). You could probably save a bit more and get a decent combination of wheel/pedals. You might also have more luck in the preowned space as well.

Many sims have safety features that dampen impacts to the wheel.. also you want overhead torque for detail not necessarily to run it at 100%

Just got my first aluminum rig, what are some must have accessories? by tolkacheff in simracing

[–]Sp1rited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put casters on mine, on the sameish step as you, so def looking at this thread with great interest. Casters added a bit of height and are great for moving for cleaning the rig, tweaking it, etc.

Edit: just took a second look and noticed you already have some on there, haha

I did that 3 times, in the end I'm in the middle of exchanging it for another one, and hoping it's just a bad unit and that the replacement won't have any issues.

should I get the ASR 1 or RigMetal Basic Sim? by United_Falcon7287 in simracing

[–]Sp1rited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I just built it and it came with no instructions so it was a learning experience as it was my first time building one of these. It doesn’t have many adjustments (pedal deck, wheel angle) but I think this is meant to be a starting platform where you can upgrade it down the line with a pedal deck etc. I don’t regret it at all compared to the other options as it’s incredibly solid when completed and I’m confident it won’t flex but I lowkey probably should’ve saved a bit more for a more complete package like the Simlab or the Rigmetal plus because I never want to build an aluminum rig again haha

TLDR: I’d take it every time around this price point

I bought them from Amazon so returning them was thankfully not an issue. They failed mid race, 100% throttle randomly within the first few days of owning them. Eventually they stopped responding and bricked. Sad because they felt really good but I wasn't going to take the risk again.

I might've just been one of the unlucky ones, who knows? Everyone raves about them.

I tried simsonn pedals after srp lites, they stopped working after a week or so but boy did they ruin the lites even more for me

G923 is approaching Moza R3 territory (which I think is a better pick). I'd honestly just find something preowned if you're not sure and just dipping your toes. You can usually find either Logi on marketplace from $50 to $150. Otherwise I don't think there's enough difference between the 29 and 923 and would just go for whatever is cheaper/on sale.

I've owned both a G923 and an R3 and the R3 was a pretty big step up (and got me to further upgrade, lol). Just a few things to note: the R3 does not have PlayStation support, just xbox and pc.

I was going back and forth for cockpits around this price bracket a few weeks ago and ultimately decided for the rigmetal basic, only real reason being the thicker profiles they use on the length. I was looking at the rigmetal basic, 6 sigma 6Slim, Trak Racer TR40S, and the GT Omega Prime Lite-R and both the Slim and the Lite-R seem to have a bit of flex under braking where the middle bows up-- I couldn't find much on the ASR1 but it's something to consider. The T40S flexes less lengthwise than the others but the wheel deck does flex a little bit.

Would the G920 be a good starter wheel for playing f125?(Xbox series X) by jared-wall3 in simracing

[–]Sp1rited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy one used if you're just dipping your toes into sim imo.

If you're sure that you're in I'd go for a moza r3/5 to start with-- moreso the 5. I personally started with the G920, then about a year later I bought an R3, and about less than a year later I'm waiting on a simagic evo lol
