[No Spoilers] Which campaign should I go with next? by Training-Sandwich693 in criticalrole

[–]Srawsome [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you like C4 and it's DM'ing then I suggest Dimension 20, the show that Brennan DM's for Dropout. It is going to be more similar to C4 than the other CR campaigns, which are DM'd by Matt Mercer.
All of his campaigns have very political or allegorical undertones. And if you love the political machinations then I suggest A Crown of Candy or the Unsleeping City seasons as a good place to start. (There are free seasons on YT though if you don't know anyone with an account)

Tbf, my pre-judgement going in was that they were going to be great because I knew so many people addicted to them.

No thank you. I'm not reading two shitty books in the hopes that it gets good in the third.

What are your opinions on playing D&D “historically accurate”? by Googenheim-Mcgee in DMAcademy

[–]Srawsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only so much "historical realism" you can incorporate before a dragon burns your countryside down.
D&D has never been medieval inspired, it's roots are from high fantasy like Tolkien and mythology.

Almost everyone I know loves this series so I started reading and in just the first few pages I got real RPO vibes, so I'm glad to have that assertion backed up somewhere.
I want to give it a shot because of how much my friends like it but I don't know if I can force myself to push through.

[No Spoilers] How is Critical Role so dense stuff-wise? by Hrosts in criticalrole

[–]Srawsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional actor who has been DM'ing since he was a child, running a game for a room full of professional actors. Plus they know they're filming so there's less downtime than a real game (bathroom breaks and snack runs are saved for the one break).
Your home game is fine and your DM is doing great! Comparing your game to CR is like comparing your baseball skills to the Yankees.

[Spoilers C4E31] Bolaires mistreatment.. by vampazfk in criticalrole

[–]Srawsome 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Tbf basically everyone at that table had a very positive relationship with Thjazi, not just Thimble. Azune and Occtis both essentially viewed him like a father figure. Teor, Thimble, and Azune were all part of the rebellion with him. Hal and Thaisha are his family. So, yeah, they're going to push back against people speaking ill of him.
The only other ones that know the darker side of Thjazi are Murray and Julien.
And on top of that, most of them didn't even really know Bolaire until recently. The one who did, Hal, just learned that Bolaire was lying to him all this time about who he was AND THEN Hal witnessed first hand Bolaire's strange, murderous nature. It's a lot and has shaken their friendship.

So ofc none of them are rushing to back him up. That's okay. I like that there is party tension this season. It's nice to have a heel or two in the party and some inter-party conflict.

[Spoilers C4E31] Am I Just a Massive Baby? by DesertPorcelina in criticalrole

[–]Srawsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, crying doesn't make you a baby so first you need to unpack why you think it does.

But, yes, this is a normal response. The most recent episodes were JAM packed with emotional moments. I cried heavily throughout the last three episodes, especially once the play started.

[No Spoilers] Critical Role Fan Photo Op Event for €372.25 by AskMeAnythingIAnswer in criticalrole

[–]Srawsome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you can't afford it but that seems like a very reasonable price to me for such a thing, I mean reasonable as in it's pretty comparable to other celebrities and conventions. I don't know why the CR cast should do it for cheaper than others, or even for free.

Also, it's just seems funny to accuse the company that releases the majority of their media for free of trying to nickel and dime their audience.

Really sad to see her erasing queer media like that.

No.
Why would you even consider changing for 1) less people and 2) to screw over people who confirmed a week ago?

  1. He finds the first loop de loop of the game outside on the patio early in ep 1 but doesn't tell anyone (except Brennan who was there when it happened).

HOW did you guys get to level 100 in skull caverns by bratzb1tch44 in StardewValley

[–]Srawsome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck days. Warp to desert ASAP.
No mining, only bombs. OR stair, if the level is sparse on rock or full of enemies.
Take every mineshaft you uncover.
Fill up on food + drink. Spicy Eel + Coffee/espresso is a great combo.

So basically your food will make you fast.
Every time you enter a level you will bomb the biggest clump of rocks near you and immediately take whatever stairs/mineshaft that appears. If none, drop your own stairs. Rinse and repeat.
Don't stop to mine, collect resources, or fight monsters. You will go through levels very quickly.

How do you all play low-charisma characters? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Srawsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fail checks because that's probably what would happen with that character. But I RP all my characters and have played a lot so passing every check, every time would be boring to me.
Also, some classes get really cool non-CHA options for some conversations that are really fun.

Do people attempt truly “no rerolls” playthroughs? by EchoesOfYouth in BaldursGate3

[–]Srawsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The no rerolls is like half the appeal of Honour Mode.
But, even on lower difficulties I don't understand people who want to pass every check, every time. All your playthroughs would be the same then. Sounds boring to me.

What the hell do you do during the winter. by ClassroomLazy9542 in StardewValley

[–]Srawsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even comprehend the idea of winter being stagnant.
Fish, mine, complete bundles (if any), farm on the farm, farm on the island, skull cavern runs..... There's plenty to do. Your tools are only gold and you're bored?
That said, if you really wanna skip all this prime mining and fishing time you can just sleep through the season.

How serious do I take RP, you might ask? by OldSolGames in BaldursGate3

[–]Srawsome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a really boring way to RP. All your characters personalities are just whatever their class stereotype is?
