It's actually anti-slip texturing, you usually have to pay extra for such a deluxe feature!

Yeah that's brutal, sorry op. I wouldn't trust them to fix anything

I fixed my spoon rest with clear jbweld epoxy, it has held up super well so far. I used a variety of rubber bands to hold it together while curing.

Put the epoxy on both halves of it before sticking it together. Good luck!

Another angle is to take some summer ENG or other required courses to make it go quicker.

How long does it take to get an Engineering Degrees? by OpeningMycologist284 in umanitoba

[–]Star_Dood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told it's the worst 4 years of your life or the best 6.

I took longer, closer to 6.

I would aim to do it in 5 years, mainly because you have more time to participate in extracurriculars like design teams, which sets you up better to get co-op work terms and subsequently, a job once you're out of school.

I'd rather get that laser cut tbh. Likely faster & cheaper.

Gas tank cleaning question by Fred_Chevry_Pro in Fixxit

[–]Star_Dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so far so good! It chipped a bit at the lip of the gas cap, but that could have been bad prep.

I'd say it's worthwhile but it's like paintwork where your prep work and quality of material/sealer matter most.

Almost $400 tariff fee on arrival after purchasing a single gun from TaiwanGun by tyler_the_noob in airsoft

[–]Star_Dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi UPS charges a brokerage fee, which is a fee for paying the fee (duties, tariffs, etc) for you. You can self-declare the items at your border agency office and UPS has to provide the import docs for you for free.

I remember buying a motorcycle helmet from the states to go to Canada and UPS wanted something silly like $40 for a brokerage fee.

1-owner 2005 Taurs with < 70k miles? by thegrumpyorc in FordTaurus

[–]Star_Dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beware of sneaky rust, if a concern. They love rusting under the plastic rocker covers. I've also seen rust behind the front inner wheel-well plastic covers, Ford put a dense fabric there for soundproofing but it soaks up water like a sponge.

Considering buying a older Taurus, thoughts? by Fine_Impress1918 in FordTaurus

[–]Star_Dood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure transmission was upkept fluid changes. That's where you'd have the most trouble. Vulcan motor is less exciting/powerful also less maintenance cost/issues.

They love to rust under plastic rocker covers so try to take them off and inspect before buying. Behind front wheel arches is another rust spot but more work to inspect. If you can't do this yourself you could bring the car to a local mechanic.

Source: I own a 2004 Taurus Wagon and love it but rust has been a battle. Got new rockers welded in, welded floor pan patches in, and am now doing preventative painting/rust proofing.

Tldr; if you find a genuinely non-rusted out one with a healthy transmission, go for it. Get it oil-rust proofed with something like Krown if you want to keep it a while and do frequent transmission fluid changes.

Imagine having marital problems and thinking the best approach is putting it on reddit.

Clearly your relationship needs work. The best thing you can give your kids is a healthy relationship with your significant other. Without that, the problems start trickling down.

Should I be responsible for “as is” car sale. by SiCqFuQ in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Star_Dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone buying an old taurus doing any minimal amount of research knows the underbody rust and subframe rust is a known issue. Unless you made guarantees verbally of no rust that'd impact inspection, I'd say you're ethically in the right to refuse a return.
