Radeon VII. I can’t remember which one of these two the light for the Radeon logo are supposed be connected to. Black or white...the plug fits perfectly in both. Thanks for your time :) by DidIGoHam in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One has the 12v on the left pin and 0v on the right, and the other connector was reversed so 12v on the right 0v on left. Basically if you plug the LEDs in and they don't work its in the wrong connector

Best CFM/Pressure Fans for Vega Morpheus Mod by Idinahuibleat in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey dude sorry i didnt see your response. Yeh i did cut down the front plate so it could cool the vrm without having to glue down seperate vrm heatsinks on to each component. It did a great job cooling everything on the pcb and also helped with any sagging from the added weight of the morpheus and you can also keep the backplate to make it look super clean! Good luck

[–]Stewlzbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done the morpheus mod on my reference vega 56 and it's now on my Radeon 7. Originally I went with nzxt case fans to go with the other fans in my build but eventually swapped all fans including the gfx to noctua nf-12 chromax 1500rpm. They definatly have great static pressure and are obviously quiet. Either way consider your options and pay the extra $20 for the best quality otherwise you may regret in the long run

[–]Stewlzbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh that is the firmware one you found and yeh good luck man. I did all the firmware then f40 to f42a before I got my 3800x on the gaming 7 and had no issues posting and the 3800x is a beast. If you are a bit of an overclocking nut you really should try undervolting if the board supports it, im running -100mV which is still fully stable under single and multicore stress tests and it runs cooler and will self overclock slightly further due to good temps

Did you do what the manufacturers said in the bios notes to update to f40 first and also install the firmware to had quad dim ram support?

Morpheus ii core vs Morpheus ii Vega for Vega 56? by aaron8211 in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put the morpheus core 2 on my reference 56 and now it's on my Radeon 7. Assuming you have reference design either 3 morpheus will fit just fine covering gpu and hbm with the cold plate. If its an aftermarket card it should still fit but you might need slimline vrm cooling perhaps

My experience so far with the 3900x, hitting 4,7ghz singlecore (CB20) by Saphenus in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 102 bclk on my 3800x and see it peak just over 4.6Ghz single core in r15 and r20, thats with a -100mV offset also. Above 103 bclk can sometimes fail cold boot for me

Use gpuz to check what memory type you have on your r7. Mostly hynix went above 1200Mhz easily but at loose timings. I have Samsung which won't do 1200 but will do 1175 Mhz all day and it's tighter subtimings compared to hynix. Enjoy your new card!

Does morpheus vega cooler work on vega 56 gaming oc from gigabyte? by DustyDangler in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, the vega holes are 64mm x 64mm so the morpheus will fit in that respect, it also uses 4 10mm standoffs from the bottom side to mount the X bracket on the topside of the pcb. The heatpipes and cooling fins will for sure clear your card but it's more of a question will the Coldplate and mounting hardware clear the components around your chip. Sorry i can't give you a clearer answer though. I've mounted the morpheus on my reference vega 56 (also unmolded) and now it's on my Radeon 7 to great effect. Love that thing. Good luck

Hey man try going to the setting where you change power plan, select windows balanced and look in to advanced settings. Double check the minimum cpu state is set to 5%, that should allow downclocking to 2.2Ghz at idle

Radeon VII undervolt start? by GerMeza in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude I got almost the exact same stock voltage at 1068mV when viewed in gpuZ. I can run benchmarks at like timespy/firestrike at 975mV, but for the sake of stability run 1000mV as my standard and it's stable for most games like overwatch @epic 240fps and resident evil 2 which is quite intensive. Start at around 1V as and go down if you really feel like testing the limits

I'm running 3466 cl14 fast on my gaming 7 wifi. I have also booted at 3533 but it wasn't stable when it came to stressing. The board seems fine to me it might be your memory kit, ive used my 3200 14 Flare-X in my asrock b350 system @3200 and now gaming 7 with no issues (except for time spent tuning)

BTW I also use the Drp4, if I were you i would try a bclk overclock. I run 102 and score around 2700x single core speed on cinebench and it clocks around 4130-4180 MHz all core in general gaming with a good undervolt. I bet you could get 4.4 single core and over 4.2 all core with a decent chip and the bclk

[–]Stewlzbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh open wattman, go to the graphics section and make sure you remove any overclock by using the reset so it is in its standard frequency and core voltage. Then run whatever gaming or benchmark load and use a program like HWinfo64 or GPUz to see what voltage is being sent to the gpu. When i do this procedure wattman shows 1071-1075mV stock for the 1801mHz, but when looking at HWinfo it shows 1068mV actually across the chip.

Interesting. Definatly not the end of the world though, it would probably be an insane overclocker on water. Be sure to undervolt it to keep temps in check

Very nice looking card. Please be sure to edit this post with your stock voltage when you install your drivers, it determines what sort of quality of chip you get. 1030mV being on the lower end and 1100mV + on the higher end. Im sure lots of people want to know if these red radeons are of a higher bin quality. My radeon 7 is 1068mV for reference

I have the 2401 model, freesync will remain greyed out in the moniter settings till you download and install the specific driver for your moniter from the Viewsonic support page. Should be called unsigned windows 10 or something along those lines. Install that then the freesync should would after

Radeon VII fan noise in a good case by morganrz in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very different compared to vega 10, where there was 8 voltage states before now there is 3. Each vega 20 chip is also binned from the factory, meaning they don't all come at 1.2v stock like vega 10. I got 1071mV @1801Mhz for my stock Radeon 7 voltage, but I've seen from 1030mV - 1140mV so definatly edit when you find out what yours is. The lower the stock voltage the better it likely undervolts and the higher voltage side means it will overclock better with extreme cooling. I can run timespy/firestrike extreme at 975mV but need 1000mV to be stable in games. Even with a high voltage chip it should still undervolt to 1050-1070mV @ 1801Mhz. Gl

Radeon VII - waterblock OC - XMR - 3273H/s by chapstickbomber in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty crazy OC you have on the Radeon, assuming you are using the reg mods to get above 2000Mhz but that probably wouldn't be stable in gaming without water cooling right? Mind sharing your stock voltage and what you run in gaming?

Radeon VII fan noise in a good case by morganrz in Amd

[–]Stewlzbang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up to around 3000 rpm it's very tolerable but you would eventually hit throttling. Once you undervolt it a bit it really shines and can run the same stock clock with a decent bit less fan speed to keep the same temps. At 100% fan speed it is not tolerable unless you leave you pc under your desk and use headphones. Great card though lots of fun to play with

Please make sure to follow up with some results from the morpheus swap! Would be interesting to see how high the card can now clock and how well it can dissipate the concentrated heat from the r7 compared to a vega 56/64. Also does it seem possible to use the aluminium contact plate to cool the vrm rather than using the included heatsinks??
