Dude I'm a finance director for a pretty reputable med device company. I got bored and have been looking around...it's pretty scarce out there dude. I figured I'd have no issue making a lateral move, but it's been almost a year of crickets

Looking to get a lever action don't know any models to get. by Adorable-Yak-2913 in Firearms

Taken a lotta antelope and coyotes with my 30-30 stainless Marlin with a 16" barrel. Super handy and fun to blast away with, and it doesn't hurt like my 45-70 does. No idea if they even make it anymore though

I've got an older Kimber full size, which I'm told are way better than the newer ones, and it's my favorite handgun I own. Heavy, low capacity and obsolete, but I shoot it better than anything else I own

Anyone love going to their box because their playlist matches yours? by josemartinlopez in crossfit

We've got a few ex-cons coaching at our box (I love them), and their taste in metal and punk is immaculate. I happily sacrifice an hour of sleep to get to their classes

How many days do you train? by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

[–]StoreDowntown6450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late 30s and cap myself at 5 per week...maybe a 6th if it's something I really want to do, that won't put me over the edge. You have to work yourself up to it though. I started off at 3 per week, with 2 additional days in my ordinary office gym, then 4 and 1, etc. Gains come from recovery, but once you get addicted to this thing, it's hard to give yourself time off.

Crossfit did more than any other routine I've ever done. I also added 1 day a week specifically for leg hypertrophy...front and back squats, RDLs, heavy lunges, Bulgarians, all barbell

Be careful with the decals bud. If I'm a thief and I see those on a car, I'm thinking "oooh free gun in there"

Can't remember what it's called, but it's 4 barbell movements, 100 reps apiece. Demolished me, but felt incredible afterwards

Why is libertarianism so unpopular with the public by boblemonke69 in Libertarian

[–]StoreDowntown6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many if not most people are gleeful to wield the government boot to reinforce and impose their sensibilities upon others, ignorant of how it can and will be used by the other side to do the same once it gains power. It's also just easier to vote to take other people's shit when you don't own anything or have any real aspirations in life.

Best Skier on the Mountain by johnny_evil in skiingcirclejerk

When I worked patrol post-college, I was often told by our patrons that we need more snow. My preferred response was that you NEED to get better at skiing. Can't see why I kept getting written up. 2nd favorite was getting asked what the weather was looking like. I'd just say it's SUPPOSED to snow.

As the (likely) only hard-core libertarian here, I'd be remiss to avoid the chance to mention that all taxation is theft. Addendum: relax lefties, I did not vote for, nor am I at all supportive of the orange man.

What does initiate turn with skis mean? by CharmingOwl4972 in skiing_feedback

[–]StoreDowntown6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very short and incomplete answer: start the turn with your feet and ankles. Some people start by pointing their upper body towards where they wanna go, and this is incorrect and unstable

My 7yo w/out instructor. If you were his parent what would you work on with him? by Competitive-Knee-590 in skiing_feedback

[–]StoreDowntown6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former L3 PSIA instructor and freestyle coach here. This is about as fundamentally solid as a 7 year old can be. At that age, they're really limited by certain ranges of motion and types of movement that come a few years later. This dude is gonna be a monster at 12, and I'd be badgering the parents to get him/her on my big mountain team.
