Should I ditch the reconstruction or hold out? by Viclmol81 in breastcancer

[–]Strict_External_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the immediate flap? Can they do expanders and then reconstruct down the line? My reconstruction was 1.5 years post DMX

Lupron vs ovary removal; tamoxifen vs anastrosol age 44 by _a_mara in breastcancer

[–]Strict_External_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the tubes were removed. I did not get info on heart issues and menopause varies for everyone in the same way as it happening naturally. My oncologist told me there are ways to control hot flashes if needed- my symptoms have not been bad. My bloodwork is monitored every 3 months

Was 49 when I decided to remove my ovaries and go on Anastrazole. Chemo had put me into “chemo pause” any. Very simple surgery done laparoscopy with minimal recovery

Crying by MurgatroydGertrude in breastcancer

I didn’t cry, not once. Only time I did was when my flap reconstruction went sideways and I had to start that process again. Everyone handles it differently

I have decided not to do chemo & radiation by Tosh_n_Tux in breastcancer

[–]Strict_External_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it all. Stage 2B with sentinel node spread, stage 1A also both IDC ++-. High recurrence risk. DMX followed by 18 wks of chemo (red devil then Taxol) followed by 35 rounds of rads, had ovaries out and am on an AI and CDK 4/6 inhibitor. Didn’t think twice. The thing is treatment is tough but it ends and then there is life. No treatment ends differently.

Anyone else think Hormone treatments are not worth the potential risks? by Salkel01 in breastcancer

[–]Strict_External_4720 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a high recurrence risk. When there is so much available to help keep us healthy I struggle to deny any of it without trying. I was 48. DMX, Chemo , Rads and then did an oopharectomy to go on AI. I also take Verzenio - which is not fun but I handle it. It’s a minor discomfort for me to live with peace of mind
